There must be much rejoicing in Russia these days.
Hey, oil pricess are about to go up by 500%. And, if anyone is planning to buy a donkey, I am sure that the WTO will insist that the price of hay be brought in line with that of other fuels.

The bigger item is the fact that they've hardly even explored a lot of the regions in Russia that could provide a LOT of HUGE oil deposits. If they work this out, and if exploration starts, pretty soon Russia, Mexico, and a post-Chavez Venezuela could be providing enough oil that we will be able to full back Israel.

Anything that prevents us from giving greenbacks to Al Qaeda-championing Saudis is a good thing.

It will be interesting to see how the Bush haters try to spin this good news.
I can't wait for John Rob's upcoming Kill File/posts addition to Free Republic. Then, I can block these clymers so that so good discussions can be held without the 24/7 haters of GW using drive by shooting to take shots at GW on this site.

Yep. They had a guy on FOXNEWS who said the exact same thing. The problem is, the infrastructure in Russia doesn't support a potential oil boom. It will take at least 5-7 years to develop an effective and efficient infrastructure to support oil exports.
I'm amazed this is now making news. Miss Marple and I reported this on the Daily Dose the day it happened. It is BIG news.

Eventual goodbye to Saudi Arabia BUMP.

Anything that prevents us from giving greenbacks to Al Qaeda-championing Saudis is a good thing. There has been a markt convergence between Islamist struggle against the usurious West, communism and self-worshiping states that accept little to no criticism.

Getting our energy supplies from Russia is not a small thing. A prosperous Russia is far less likely to relapse into the pattern of failed socialism, and considering what this country spent fighting Communism for three-quarters of a century, even a sharp rise in prices is still comparatively cheap. Also, every barrel of crude oil we purchase from Russia is one less that the Saudis can sell. I say, put the mendacious Saudis out of business, then they shall have no more money to pour into subversion and guerrilla combat. When their brand of Islamism they espouse is defunded, the crazies will either fall to fighting each other, or give up and quietly slip back home to their miserable existences.

I believe advanced Western drilling technology including directional drilling, would also help maximize reserve recovery. It is my understanding that many reservoirs were damaged by poking too many holes in them due limited Russian technology.

I don't think this is really being noticed by a lot of the editors. Not flashy enough, I guess. But it was the Saudis in the 80s who delivered the mortal blow to the Evil Empire of the USSR by opening their spigots.
Now, as we take out the Evil Empire that is Islamic terrorism, it may be the Russians who deliver the mortal blow to their funding by opening THEIR oil spigots.

Rintense and I noticed this the day that it happened. Lots was made about the missile agreement, but the editors ignored the most important thing, which was this energy agreement. Don Evans has been going to Russia quite regularly.
Not only does this give us a new source of oil, but also a place to market our superior technology in oil exploration and recovery. It is probably going to be one of the best accomplishments of this administration, besides winning the war on terror.
Of course, most people who are on the hate GW 24/7 mantra will either ignore this or attribute it to some "big oil" plot.

........attribute it to some "big oil" plot.......
Well it is don'tcha see..... The NWO, Burger Builders, etc have to have their investments made whole. And never forget that much of the Arab oil money may well go into financing these facilities also, never forget all those pipeline routes that we have been waging war over....
Gosh buy Haliburton stock today.... Cheney maybe rehired as Chairman....

Not quite. This oil deal has two purposes:
1. Strengthening our developing alliance with Russia as a counterweight to a more aggressive China.
2. To eventually wean us off MidEast oil so that we can back Israel to the hilt.
The question is, do the Palestinians realize this yet?

Naw.... the NWO and BBs are only looking out for their investments whether they be in China, Russia, ME, Mexico or the USofA.... Oil is a world commodity so it really doesn't matter who is the producer... The owners/capitalist are only a few and will get their reward.

I don't think this is really being noticed by a lot of the editors. Not flashy enough, I guess. But it was the Saudis in the 80s who delivered the mortal blow to the Evil Empire of the USSR by opening their spigots. Maybe, but at least this position doesn't have an internal lobby taking credit. The usual ones I hear are "Star Wars did it", or the Brezinski fave, "Afghanistan did it."
As for editors, you know more than I, but did they set down the "cover the protesters" angle for the recent trip to Germany and Russia? All I heard was obsessive questioning of Bush about the "protestors" who were quite small in number, and exist for any visiting president. Instead of covering the big stories, they retreated into reflexive, contrarian anti-Americanism - which seems to be the "affect" of most of their reporting.
