I like it if the Arabs don't. How can US citizens of Arab descent have any problems with this fingerprinting? It's not for US citizens, it's for foreigners for Pete's sake! No non-citizen has a "right" to visit the US. It is a privilege extended by the People of the United States.
If they want to finger print the Canadians as a nominal "balance" to make the Arabs feel better, feel free to do so. I don't think many of the Canadians will turn out to be terrorists; they are far too polite.

"Hundreds of thousands of people are going to have to register with the authorities. I just find it galling. It will alienate a lot of people," he said. How can you alienate an alien?

Ya know...it just goes to prove that no matter what this Administration tries to do it's never good enough because those opposing it do not want it period! Why? Simple! The do not like President George W. Bush and won't support anything he comes up with. They either don't get enough warning or they think the warnings they do get are bogus. Bush is not doing this or doing that...it's so silly. It's like kindergarten. Look...we have to protect this country the best way we know how. This is not a game or a dress rehearsal. If we were the perpetrators of such an act as 9-11 in an another country, you can bet your bippy we would be ID'd and checked. If that's what it takes to keep the majority of the people in this country safe...so be it. I would think if you have nothing to hide you would not be worried about this? Wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry? I would and so would the majority of Americans!

No way. Nothing wrong with this thread. As a matter of fact, any group opposing this action should have its leaders imprisoned. It is time to take some tough action. Now.

I will be more than happy to show these sorry ragheads the way out of the country.

In fact, I am in favor of mass deportations. Will be until I die. If we don't, we are going to pay an awful price later.

Ashcroft was brilliant in his announcement because he set these laws up as already having been established in the 50s- and that many European countries already do this. I can just see the whiners say, 'this isn't the same country it was in the 1950's...' Hahahaha! BTW, it wouldn't surprise me in the least, given Canada's open immigration policy, that a lot more restrictions will be put on visitors from up North.

It appears that "in the Arena" has asked this post be removed because it was pointed out to him that it HAS ALREADY BEEN POSTED EARLIER.

"The Bush administration is, step by step, isolating Muslim and Arab communities both in the eyes of the government and the American people," said Timothy Edgar of the ACLU.Hmmm....methinks that the Arab and muslim communities were isolated, in one fell swoop by 19 men on 9/11. If anything, these steps are the tolerable minimum that should be put into place to restrict the movements of potential terrorists. If the musli don't like it....then THEY can take anti-terrorist actions. Prove to me you aren't my enemy and I will consider relaxing the requirements, but don't.... don't tell me that I have to set myself up for another hit just because your feelings get hurt.

hello disruptor!

This is a really good idea since most terrorists seem to have about twenty aliases.
And how is this "discriminatory"? I was fingerprinted before going into the Army, and again just because I wanted to adopt a child, both perfectly legal activities.
