I applied for storrs and the hartford branch. I dont think i will get into either because my grades were really bad this year, and ive pretty much given up all hope for the Storrs branch. Ive already heard from CCSU so that is my safety for next semester. If i go to UCONN-Hartford or CCSU i will probably stay home and commute.

CCSU is a much better school now than it was when I was there 7 years ago. They've done a lot of work on campus and offer a bunch more majors than were offered then also. So don't get too bummed out over it. When I was there I had an off-campus apartment with three buddies (even though it's only about 15 minutes from my house) only so I could get out of my parents house. Had a hell of a good time and my academics showed it.

3 out of the 4 of us had permits to carry so we were safe as far as the neighborhood went, but we were there during a rash of back-porch arsons. That was a little scary but we were on the first floor and figured we could get out in a hurry if need be, luckily never had to. Unless money is a concern, I would highly recommend living on or off campus instead of communting. The social aspects of college life are important as well. Plus that way you won't end up like my brother-in-law who graduated last year and still lives at home.

""stuck in the 50's" town of Winsted." Hey, don't be sending people out here ...they make noise, raise taxes and dirty up the good fishin' holes :) I'd love another flood out here in the hills if it would get ride of the NY-er's and flatlanders !

Instead of letting Ralphie have normal snacks, Mrs. Nader would hand out chickpeas for him to suck on, which explains his ascetic path in life and why he's so angry at anyone who's having fun.

If you mean the nice old brick structure to the north and below the soldier's monument, yes, it's a fine building and I too have envisaged turning it into something useful, like a Monaco's (steal Franca and gang) style restuarant or a club.

It would be nice if another '55 flood would wipe out the welfare queens and gangstas that now HUD-dle in the neighborhood behind the police station.

wipe out the welfare queens and gangstas that now HUD-dle in the neighborhood behind the police station. Second the motion there ! The "Winchester Hotel", "Hud central" should be torn down and most of the second, third and fourth floors all along Main St. up to the YMCA. So Ralphie started out as a chickpea taster ...hm..mm... yea, explains alot. Must have been the "shoe makers kid goes barefoot" cause "Dad" owned and ran the Highland Arms...about where Colts was.
