The truth of the matter is somewhere in-between the "AMERICAN CONCENTRATION CAMPS!!!" idiots and the people who think internments were justified.
18,000 Japanese-Americans refused to renounce the Emperor or swear allegiance to the United States. And there actually was a quite large Japanese-American espionage network in the US.
But anyway you slice it, the internment (of US citizens) with no specific evidence was wrong. Even J. Edgar Hoover (hardly some civil-liberties bleeding heart pansy) was opposed to it.
All of the great US traitors of the last twenty years...the Walkers, Aldrich Ames, Hansen...have been pasty white WASP guys. Why aren't we interning white guys?

I have eaten lunch a few times at the Karadeniz Pide Salonu (Black Sea Turkish Pizza Parlor) on Main St., the main drag in the Arab section of Paterson. You can get a great cheap meal there.
Maybe the reporter decided to wander into it while he was investigating the neighborhood.

I have not been able to find the book on Amazon that i'm referring to. MAGIC by David Luxman(i think).
According to this book, USMilINtel had solid information regarding sabotage plans by the kisei (American born and educated in Japan's Shinto schools and then residing in California). There was also the concern that vigilantism against the Japanes in California would reach horrendous proportions. THe result of recently declassified mil documents, the book shows how the issue was not as simple as people have made it out to be.

Plus there were no German internment camps that I know of, and there were plenty of German sypathizers in the US, which hardly any of the Japanese internment camp supporters point out. There were some limited Italian internment camps. (Joe DiMaggio's father or uncle may have been in one but I cannnot confirm that fact.)
Does anyone know why there were not any German internment camps during WWII?

John..
That is one argument that will never be settled. All I would like is for those that cry "concentration camp", to also acknowledge that Japanese-Americans did indeed turn traitors and that the estimate was for at least 5000 hard core saboteurs to be a potential.
A guideline was used by FDR and FBI in that when the Japanese invaded the Philippines, a few days later, hundreds of Japanese-Philipinos came out with armbands on to help the invaders. They knew of the coming invasion prior and they aided it. Again the internment was not without cause.

That FBI agent's story is mind boggling. How accomodating can the USA be? We could chuckle about it in the past but it's certainly no laughing matter now.

I found this article on google concerning internment camps of German-ancestry citizens. I just wonder why in school I only learned about the Japanese and Italian internment camps.

CA...
Indeed some Germans were interned, few.
The reason for no mass internment was because it was not needed. Germans that came to this country were mostly assimilated and became a part of the American fabric. The Japanese and Chinese on the other hand have never been assimilated. Mostly they prefer their own culture over the American culture, Germans did not.

Let the FBI recruit only Arab Christians. The pc crowd will pis$ and moan, but the fact is, there's a war on. A war started by Muslim Arabs.

Will they wear wires if they are asked to? There are reports of Arab Agents who have already refused to "spy" on other Arabs. It ain't gonna happen. Of course with the latest from the esteemed a$$hcroft today, a gun to ones head, may have one look at things with a different perspective. There is something wrong with the premise, trust your enemy. Another grand scheme that's way over my head. Blackbird.

I think it's high time people in the USA were referred to as "American born genius" or "American born idiot", etc. But no.. It's always gotto be about race. No matter how hard the constitution tries to impress upon the American public that race, national origin, etc. are immaterial.. Sort of reminds me of our constitution, and it's stance against religionist bigotry..
Thank God for the few geniuses, or we'd all be in biig trouble...
