It's A VERY chopped 40mm M79 grenade launcher. You could put your eye out with that thing.

Yes, they can be legally purchased and owned- in some states.

'm proud and insulted by that statement...Crazy America ? Hell yeah... Hammer down ? Hell no... This crazy American doesn't go off half cocked...Condition One baby...

...and the last time I went to the "town dump" was in the 60s to shoot rats at nite with 22 pistols. I.m tempted to go over there so I won't feel like a criminal when I transport a gun some where.

Yah, she's is without a doubt A-1 babe material.
Her shooting technique leaves a bit to be desired, though. Like keeping both eyes open and adopting an isosceles stance. $;-)

This is a foul slander, a horrible canard, and its author should be condemned to carrying a pearl-handled Lorcin for the rest of his days. In a fur-covered external holster.

I saw once in a gun store a gold plated Lorcin. Was a 10th anniversary edition or something. $200. Pretty cheap (in every sense of the word) for a "collector's edition" pistol. Sorta like a gold-plated Yugo.

Perhaps she's *this one's* granddaughter. Well, great, granddaughter.... If not, her Babushka

is likely someone very much like her.

I'd carry one of those dudes into bear country any day! Use the HEDP round; the #4 buckshot load is too light for Brownies. If you're seriously interested in a blooper, either the old M79 or a current-issue M203 to piggyback on an M16 or AR15, check with Randy Shivak

My own idea of a discouragement gun in bear country [required by state law] was a shorty Remington 870 loaded with three slugs up the tube and a *dragon's breath* magnesium signal round as the first one out, also a pretty good survival situation firestarter in snowy conditions. The trick was to not burn down an entire forest.

The M-79 was called a "blooker", at least by the Marines who I tended to as an HM2. And be damned, that is indeed the noise they made when firing. The rounds always detonated in a small puff of grey smoke, unlike the ones that hollywood uses, which explode in a twenty-foot fireball and flip over armored cars.

I actually got to fire the M203 a great deal more. Those were fun days, with Uncle Sugar buying all the ammo!

Yep, Marines of course have long had their own way of doing things, but blooper, blooker, thump gun, potsy and elephant gun- were all among the numerous names and descriptions of the things. The best description of the sound made while firing that I ever heard is that of the echoing tune of a brick being dropped into an empty 55-gallon oil drum....

Now there's some good shootin'.

Dang, look at those powder burns- they must have had that one up close, at 600 yards or so.

I can't wait to get back to Texas with my Garand and give the Palma course a try with it at the Ft Wolters range. My eyes were younger and better the last time I tried it- in Ohio.
