"I'm fed up. I can't take no more," Dudley said.

How about we give Dud a few lessons in the English language? What? The public schools were supposed to teach English? Hmmm. Perhaps Dud wasn't paying attention the day they taught about double negatives. All I know is "I cain't stands it no more!!!!" I'm more than willing to help those in need (my definition of need thankyouverymuch!), but would prefer to do so through the churches. Gee, if I had more $$ in my paycheck, I might be able to help more people in need!

Donna Dudley of Williamston says she can't afford to pay health care for her 16-year-old son with asthma.

I bet she smokes.

I am so sick and tired of all the crap going on in Raleigh. We've got a Govenor that puts out a budget and dares anyone to disagree with him. He includes revenue from a lottery that is at least 18 to 24 months away from being put in place. He even added positions in the State University System (about 600) that nobody wants. WHAT IS HE THINKING!?!?!?!?!

Deep Breath......Calm Down.....

I'm worried about all this. I believe our good Govenor is going to push for higher taxes and fees, and still try to have his lottery. If you believe a lottery is the answer, ask the good folks across the border in SC about their "education lottery". How much has made it to the school systems yet? NONE!

I have yet to hear anybody talk seriously about taking back all the Floyd relief funding, about $775 Million. Oh I'm sorry, I forgot that that is the Dems "Stay in Office Fund" for down east Dems. How silly of me.

Many urged legislators to raise alcohol and tobacco taxes...

Oh, yeah, *that'll* be fair to poor people. Who do they think consumes the above the most per capita? Sounds like one of their horrid regressive tax schemes to me.

Sen. Bill Martin, the Senate's appropriations chairman for Human Resources, attended the rally and said it raise legitimate concerns. He said finding new revenue -- including possibly a lottery -- will have to be debated

Gov. Sleasly has cut spending on the things that will help advance his plan to have a lottery, such as education for local schools.

We need to remember that a good deal of our problem was caused by his actions while he was Attorney General.

I for one support the lottery. Good way to get tax dollars back from the masses. How many people in the top tax bracket buy lottery tickets?

NC used to be a budget surplus state if I remember correctly.

USED to be. Word on the street is that tax confiscation didn't go very well in the recent past. My best guess - the tobacco industry has been pounded taking with it plenty of commerce. And since half of Mexico has settled here, no tax confiscation can take place if work is compensated with under-the-table cash.

If we could only find a way to tax the loot being wired to places south of the Rio Grande...

I am very new at this. I have been a lurker for quite a while though. I am on the South Coast of NC near Holden Beach. This is my second try at getting this reply to you.

I was also a lurker for some time - probably a year and a half or more!

Anyway, glad to see you around FR.
Don't worry, the HTML gets much easier with practice.

I have been to Holden Beach, but not since I was a kid. We usually went (and still go) to Nags Head.

I will start "pinging" you or notifying you of NC-related articles - but only if you want.
If you see my reply #18, you will see part of the NC Freepers listed.
I have a "ping list" of NC Freepers - there are probably between 50 and 75 screen names on it.
I usually post three articles per week, sometimes more or less, depending on how busy I am and how much NC political or other news there is.
