That would seem to be the most logical explanation. They may be "moonlighting", insuring that either illegal immigrants, or, more likely, drugs have a safe corridor into the USA.
It will probably take a firefight, with resulting dead bodies (Mexican) to settle the issue.

Don, it looks like you and DandG13 called it right. A 23-year-old Nathan Marty Ryan, 44-year-old Victor H. Cantrell and others stopped a truckload of illegals in Arizona.
Man Held in Migrant Chase
Somehow, I don't believe this is going to win either of these two a Presidential commendation, though. Not from the present occupant of the White House.

Thanks Tanc! I had overlooked it on my printed copy.
Found this info at the Conference website with a cute twisted flag logo, too.

From the Drudge Archives (links to a Denver Post Article):
HERE
EXCERPT (first 4 paragraphs):
Tuesday, April 23, 2002 - WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., renewed his fight with President Bush over immigration laws Monday, mixing his pointed criticisms of the president's policies with lavish praise for Bush's leadership.
It wasn't enough, however, to win over the president's aides. Tancredo said he got a second call in four days from the White House, this one complaining about the tone of a letter he sent the president offering "some political advice."
"I want to be polite. I really like the president. I really like him a lot," the Colorado lawmaker said shortly after he was berated by Ken Mehlman, White House director of political affairs.
The president's senior political adviser, Karl Rove, upbraided the two-term conservative Friday over statements he made attacking Bush in a Washington Times interview.

Sounds like efforts at "intimidation" to me.
To: madfly
Censorship has become a real problem since the bushbots came in. Working to get Bush elected was the biggest mistake FR ever made. There was no censorship until the RNC took over the site.
We knew we were monitored by Clinton's people, but even they didn't try to censor us.

Ping Arizona Freepers! Freep this Governors Conference. So a bunch of Governors from both sides of the border get together and make changes to foreign policy?

What the news article quotes Tancredo to have said in some context::"...some political advice".
Why can't the newspaper give me the full Tancredo quote instead of using only three words from is statement and filling in the rest with their interpretation of what he said? Is that too much to ask? I like to think for myself -- I don't like being told what to think by some newspaper.
To: Tancredo Fan
Thanks for the link. I've got the URL now.
In the past, I've only had to copy the URL on FR for my notes, but with all the censorship that is now is occuring, I'm going to have to start copying all the original URLs, too.

does the protection of the law and the Constitution really apply to them? No... but the bolsheviks would like you to believe that is does.

To: Tedmeister

I would agree that a direct quote relative to the phone calls would have been nice and less open to questions as to the motives of the article's author.

I would agree that a direct quote relative to the phone calls would have been nice and less open to questions as to the motives of the article's author. ...and I agree that our sovereignty is of utmost importance and it should be enforced.

The Military and the Federal Police run or help run a good majority of the drugs coming into the US.
This incident is common place along the border.
To: D-fendr
No, they are not invading, they are just running drugs and shooting at our Federal Law Enforcement Officers.
To: FreeReign
How about a named source. ME.
I personally have seen one such incident.
The sources are unknown to the press, not the Government.
I happen to personally know the "unnamed GS-11 Border Patrol Agent"
I worked the Port of Entry in Lukeville for two years, and know all about the Military and Federal Police running drugs across the border.

The Military and the Federal Police...
Fox did away with the Federales. I'm sure there are plenty of local police available to pick up the extra business.
