Thanks for that. I had completely forgotten he had ran, because it was so short lived. Do you think he is bigger buds with Condit than Gephardt would be?

Condit & Kasich are very close and served together on the House Intelligence committiee I believe.

A conservative "blue dog" Democrat, Condit backed President Bush's $1.35 trillion tax cut this year, and has voted for prayer in public schools and relaxing environmental standards in years past.

He is close friends with former Republican presidential candidate and House Budget Chairman John Kasich of Ohio. The two have attended Rolling Stones and Pearl Jam concerts together.

Usually affable and open, Rep. Condit's lips now sealed

....rising Republican leader John Kasich declared on national television that “Gary Condit’s one of my best friends in Congress, and he’s one of the most conservative Democrats, and he’s always helping us to cut taxes and to cut spending.”

G.O.P.’s Affair With Condit Is Over

Rep. Gary Condit (D-Calif.) had to cancel a fundraiser to be hosted by House Budget Chairman John Kasich (R-Ohio). Kasich said the leader of the Blue Dogs had helped him with the balanced budget and deserved support.

But Condit canceled, sparing his long-time Republican friend the embarrassment of giving a platform for California conservative GOPers to rage about Kasich's party disloyalty.

Condit, though, did not go home penniless. Within weeks of the canceled fundraiser, Condit's campaign deposited a $1,000 check from Kasich Chief of Staff Donald Thibaut of Columbus, Ohio.

Thibaut is not a heavy contributor. In the past two election cycles, he has made only one other political donation over $200. Thibaut, Condit and Kasich's office were unavailable for comment.

KASICH STAFFER HELPS CONDIT

Don't have "trained" dogs but whenever I bury a deceased pet(12 to 24" below grade), I'll be "danged" if my LIVE dalmations+rat terrier+rat-mutts don't have 'em "un-dug" when I get home from the day's toil. We live in the middle of nowhere in Texas and our animals MUST be alert with all senses or they don't survive long if they "wander into" snakes/coyotes/horses/cows/bulls/skunks/possums/etc without being ready to fight or run. Same goes for humans.

They haven't found the suicide note not-in-her-handwriting yet have they? Did Hitlery order any of her documents moved TODAY? Did her blood run uphill? Think Conduit's nervous, smiling as he sees this on the news, or both?

>>>>>>>>>But Chandra warned Crazy Aunt Linda about a 'big surprise' months before...<<<

Wouldn't it have been nice if the adults in the family had let Chandra know on no uncertain terms that she was getting herself into a precarious situation with Condit? One radio host says the parents also knew of the relationship, and that her father had even "kidded" her about it at one point. What in hell is funny about your kid (or niece) getting involved with a married man?

Even kids in their 20's often internalize more than we think when we talk to them...I know my kids did, though they didn't let on at the time. Chandra's family didn't seem to discourage her any more than Monica's did, perhaps they lived vicariously through the girls hanging around big shots like Condit and Clinton. Monica is lucky she lived to blab about it as much as she did.

Boy howdy, you speak the truth...even the commercials get me revved up for that show.

She looks a lot like the girl from Law and Order before she got married, Angie Harmon.

Thanks for the info. It turns out that there are at least three Fort DeRussys. MD, LA, and HI. This guy must have been pretty important to have three forts named after him.

Wow, what a major disappointment. They really are close. I had no idea. Now I will always wonder when I see Kasich if he was part of the "fun and games" at Gary's condo.

That could be because the closest house was almost 2 miles away. The crematory was in an isolated area. The other thing about the corpses there; they were able to identify them, (some dead for 20 years) with dna. It's a real puzzle that Chandra's body was absent of any dna to identify her.
