You claimed that ADM has a monopoly in food sales to Cuba...that was a lie, you said it, that makes you a liar.

Just how many other american companies exactly are there already doing biz with Cuba? If there are multiple american companies already doing biz in Cuba then why this debate over to trade or not trade with Cuba? Since obviously if multiple american companies beside ADM is already doing biz in Cuba, then there is no true US embargo on Cuba then is there?

The article from the Massachusetts News initiated some research which led to the article by Cato, not the other way around.

In order for one thing to "initiate" another, the "initiating" item would have to actually have to have an older date than the article that it initiated, don't you think?

Have you seen detailed opinion surveys on these issues? I would agree that various large minorities and majorities (depending upon the issue) of people who VOTE Republican support the views you are alienated by. It gets to the issue of internal divisions within the Party: the primary CORE (who are the dominant footsoldiers and contributors) have been (since Reagan) true Christian conservatives. They have created a coalition among a diverse array of new conservatives (old Dems, other religious), liberal/right-wing social democratic, and classical libertarian (the new pseudo-libertarian/anarchist/social degenerates tend to go to the LP). It would be a fundamental mistake to see in this coalition (required by a two-party social democratic system), or the President's "compassionate" Republicanism a reflection of the principles of the CORE of conservative Republican supporters. You could create at least 5 parties out of the RP (see, for example, the comparatively fractured nature of New York State party politics as a model) -- Liberal, Conservative, Christian Democratic, Libertarian Republican, and maybe some regionals if RP supporters decided to be children and storm out because their principles didn't dictate the direction of the party. At this point in time, conservative opposition to the policies you describe is buried (agreed) within the Party, but that is because of the nature of the political environment we find ourselves in (this isn't the 1980s anymore -- we have tens of millions of new socialistic-minded immigrants and an equal number of aborted Americans [and millions of potential Republicans that will never be]). When the day comes when that coalition is not enough to prevent a permanent majority for the Democratic Party (a serious threat in the next 6-10 years -- a fact that helps to explain the President's desperation in targeting Hispanics) -- then the Party will fracture and a new "principled" conservative Party (the core) will emerge in my view. I have personally worked in Republican Party campaigns with many many people who oppose these policies (and similar ones) on principle, but live with it as a compromise necessary to be a majority party in our increasingly social democratic polity. Like you, I live for the day when principles dictate all policies.

The prinicipled party is before you. You do not have to wait for some illusive dream from repubs that will never happen. The lines have been drawn...the choices are freedom as an american citizen with constitutional protections v. slavery to a socialist state.

The one that believes DUI laws should be stricken from the books out of deference to some fictional superhuman (probably an Ayn Rand character) who can drive drunk through a crowded school zone at 80 mph and harm no one? The one that would allow heroin dispensing machines to be placed in the schools and a bordello to open up next door to your house? The one that would allow citizens to maintain their own stocks of biological weapons and nerve agents as an extension of the 2nd Amendment? The one whose members complain of authoritarian statism but who have themselves been throttled by Harry Browne's iron fist for much of the past decade?

The "Party of Principle" is an idea straight out of a Loony Tunes cartoon starring Daffy Duck.
