So when are they going to explain why Bush had an almost IDENTICAL war plan as was carried out against Osama on his desk a couple of days before 9-11 and didnt tell us before now. This is going to feed the liberal conspiracy machine, the administration is bungling PR here and the leftist press hyenas are circling.

You are absolutely right, but ... the "P" in your PR is getting annoyed with the media and the Dems. I've talked to 15 or so pretty apolitical friends since Thursday morning and everyone understands that there was NO action plan that could been employed to stop this based on a generalized threat. This is a media self-pleasuring orgy. This one is wire to wire media elites who have suffered beyond human endurance these last 8 months as George W. Bush has remained popular and trusted. They couldn't help themselves, this is a release of astro-orgasmic intensity for the worst creeps on earth. George W. Bush, killer of 3000 people ... whoo hooo! Story!

This information about the war plan was available a few days after 9/11. Cheney discussed it in an interview. I have known about it all along.

This was the response to terror that the administration started almost immediately upon winning the election, even before the Inauguration. It is not new news, and if you didn't know about it, I am sorry, but it was not kept secret.

Ari sure is good at putting the old wench down. He does it so well! I marvel at his anger-management too.

WHAT DID HELEN KNOW AND WHEN DID SHE KNOW IT? ;^)

Miss Marple, I don't like this ugly environment of innuendo and hysteria .... but I kinda wouldn't mind turning the CIA and FBI inside out. There are a LOT of holdovers from that last reign of terror, and they need to be purged. This was Louis Freeh's FBI crew, the ones who arrested the wrong guy in Atlanta, had a pretty damaging spy flitting around for years, and who ran a tip-top crime lab. There are still mid-management CIA types who came in with the zany Deutch.

Let's find the incompetents and can them. If there are guys working turf wars .... they're gone. These agencies need to be as professional and efficient and skilled as our military is. They're not. Let's do a little bloodletting.

I think that the re-organization of the FBI and INS was just the beginning. I see that the head of the Counterterrorism group in the CIA has been replaced (the guy leaving was a Clinton holdover).

I imagine there will be quite a few of these changes. Not in the Bush way of doing things to trumpet it, though. You have to kind of read the fine print to see that is what they are doing. They probably don't want to let too many people know they are moving people around and retiring a few, both as a security measure and also to keep public confidence up.

I agree that the failures need to be investigated. However, I want someone competent to do the investigating, not the usual crew of suspects from the dem side of the aisle, like Edwards. I think it quite possible that he is the source of the leak to CBS.

I think there were a lot of things wrong with both the CIA and the FBI. I also think that there were stupid turf wars between a lot of agencies, which is counterproductive as well. I think a big push should be made to rectify that situation. Having both Tenet and Mueller at the daily briefings is a good idea, in my opinion.

Here's how it should go; something like this...

Helen.

Q Why has the White House persistently tried to delay any major investigation, so that the American people and everyone else can get to the bottom of what the cause was? It will be Monday morning quarterbacking, fair enough. But at least we'll know what the truth is.

MR. FLEISCHER: Oaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwww, yo mama!

Q You have tried to stall it, haven't you? You don't deny that, do you?

MR. FLEISCHER: Yo mama!

Q Surely. Daschle has said repeatedly that he's been asked -- he's been asked repeatedly to not go ahead with an investigation.

MR. FLEISCHER: That's right, I said yo mama!

Q Last night is a different story.

MR. FLEISCHER: Yo mama!

Q This story broke -- That isn't -- I don't think that's very fair.

MR. FLEISCHER: Yo mama!

Q Are you denying that the administration -- are you saying the administration did not try to delay any investigation?

MR. FLEISCHER: That's right, I said yo mama!

Q And you did try to delay it?

MR. FLEISCHER: Yo mama! & so on until Helen shuts up...

And the tragedy also could have been prevented by allowing pilots, flight attendants, and passengers to have arms on board the planes, thus making the tragic necessity of a shootdown less probable.

Allowing pilots to have weapons aboard is one thing: letting passengers have weapons is another.

If you were to allow passengers to carry weapons on board, you would be by definition also allowing terrorists to carry weapons on board. Sadly, most terrorists aren't polite enough to declare their terrorist status before boarding a plane.

This would cause problems even on a plane with both crew and passengers armed to the teeth.

All it would take from the terrorists to bring down the plane would be a couple of well placed shots into the cockpit to either kill the pilots or damage the electronics to the point where the plane couldn't be controlled.

Granted, they wouldn't be able to fly the plane into buildings, but being able to destroy the plane in mid flight isn't exactly a plus for our side.

Pardon my cold analysis, but 200 beats the crap out of 2823! Besides, wouldn't the presence of armed passengers be a deterrent of sorts, similar to how the crime rate went down in Kennesaw, GA after their pro-gun law passed?
