That's right, Texan, he's too American and too nationalistic to suit the Marxists.

Well, the beauty of all this is it will give the leftists on two hemispheres the fits. This alone is worth the effort.
LePen should add another plank to his platform: a complete ban on Jerry Lewis.

Reinstitute morality classes; require student participation in patriotic events and holidays. The horror...
The horror...

Why would you not support this guy? Aside from Outlawing the wearing of yarmulkes and Muslim headscarves in schools. That's a little over the top. Giving extra rights to the police? What rights do they have or not have? I cannot tell on that one. The rest of his proposals sound good. Maybe he can run in the US.

A lot of reasons, many of which have been mentioned by others on this thread. But, I agree with the essence of what you are saying -- believe me, I realize there are many people who would vote for this guy.

That's right. Why should the French play Russian Roulette with their freedoms by allowing more Muslims? Why should anyone, for that matter?

No chance we can get him to run for President of the USofA is there?
To: Maceman
Would you support a politician in the US who advocated paying mothers to stay home and raise babies? If so, here are a few graphics for your get-out-the-vote campaigns:

That was one of the big surprised to me -- his position on that issue is in fact the liberal position in this country.

"Does your minkey byte?" No, wait. That was a different animal. Nevermind.

He loses me when he starts talking about "only French citizens may teach in public schools" and "give French citizens priority for all jobs and public housing."
The person who gets the job should be the one best qualified and best able to carry it out efficiently and competently.
Once one gets away from this concept, it's just socialism with make-up.
To: summer
He has a few good ideas until you get to these :
Develop programs to increase the birth rate and pay benefits to women who stay at home with their children.
Outlaw the wearing of yarmulkes and Muslim headscarves in schools.
Expand and give new rights to the police force.
Sounds like Hitler all over again.

OK let your wife stay home and raise the kids while you work. I guarantee you will pay far less taxes and get a hefty refund check. Right here in the good ol USA. Maybe thats what he is talking about.

I agree with most of his proposals, but the ones about "requiring" students to participate in patriotic events, giving police "new" powers, and creating 200,000 prison beds* give me pause- the last two sound like something Hillary Clinton or Janet Reno might propose.
*- I agree with this one is he wants to use the space to house violent or repeat offenders.

Le Pen is not anything similar to an American conservative. But I would vote for an American presidential candidate with a similar platform in a New York minute.

Yep -- it shows that Big Government is all of a piece.
(Now, where can I find a pic of Daschole as unflattering as the ones of Teddy Boy and McCommie...?)
