I would suggest you emphasize that the felony stop procedure would have been safer for the officer and for you. The overall goal is to prevent an accidental shooting and this helps prevent such accidents besides making the officer safer. Emphasize the officer safety aspect and your man to man discussion will be less likely to degenerate into an argument with posturing by the officer involved.
