No, we did not declare war on Palestine, just like we did not declare war on Germany (first). But, Arafat and his ilk have declared war on us in deed if not on a piece of paper. He has been involved in killing Americans for years and calling it "peace". Forget the fact Arafat is in a state of war with Israel. He is in the same state of war with us, and so are the people that back him. He just has a little harder time getting to our front door than Israels'. But, that will come in time.
The simple solution is to show the Palestinian people just how much they have had stolen from them by Arafat.
At this stage, who cares what the Palestinian people "think"? It is the stage where their actions need control. Their thought process can come later. As long as their blood lust is stoked in full bloom, there will be no peace with their neighbors.
Get a peace process in place and get him replaced.
I have no problem with getting him replaced and getting a genuine peace in place. But so far the "peace process" has just produced wider and wider war. There is nothing inherently good about a "peace process". We had one of those for six years in Vietnam, and look where that got us! Unfortunately, sometimes there are just times when one has to gird up one's communal loins and do more than talk. This is one of them - and we didn't start this fight, they did.
Once that is done we don't have to deal with him and neither does Israel and the world gets off the back of Israel.
A bullet in Arafat's nasty little head and the world won't have to deal with him either, except on posterboards here and there and a hallowed place next to Che' in American Universities. In any case, the world (especially the Arab world) will never get off the back of Israel as long as there are people like Arafat around stoking the fires of hate and destruction of whomever they deem an infidel.
I am firmly convinced that the only reason the Arab world it so het up about Palestine is because they detest the people and want them out of their own country.
I agree with you there. The Arabs don't want them either.
The best thing is to forcefully set up a peaceful Palestinian state and let them get some deep mental therapy somehow. These people have been used as a weapon of war by their "brethern" so long they are a ruined culture. They need some TLC, isolation and a new culture, not Arafat and his gang of murderous thugs egging them on to greater homicidal heights. Cleaning out the fanatic cancer among them and putting up a high fence is probably the only reasonable solution for all sides. It will take time for "reason" to take hold of these miserable people and they return to a "normal" life.
The "peace process" is just more of the same-old-same-old when the Old Gang is in charge - elected or not.
Don't worry, we could tell that check to the Palestinians was "in the mail, really!" (-:
Yeah!
When Israel individuals free lance doing that sort of thing, they are arrested and tried if caught.
Yeah!
And their families don't receive subsidies.
Yeah!!!!
Another thing that you are missing is that the Palestinians have the power to effect a peace deal that insures their survival, and Israel doesn't.
Yeah!
Israel tried and was spurned.
Yeah!!! Alright, Torie, I guess we told him, huh?! (Seriously, I couldn't have put it better myself, so I didn't try. (-:)
Actually, I believe that's what's going on at the moment!
Or ... what a thoughtful and inciteful suggestion!! NOT!!!
Go back to DU where you belong.
Doesn't anyone remember when a couple of months ago or so the military (I'm not sure who) began spouting off about our not being ready to take on Sadaam?? Bush was livid about the information being "leaked". Then, all of a sudden you didn't hear anymore about it - and then the stall began with Arafat ...
