Well, it's that time of year again. They're calling for possibly severe weather in Houston later this afternoon and the wind is howling something fierce out there. I hope the folks in Throckmorton County are taking cover. Guess I'd better turn Fox News off and put on something local.

This time of year is just about right. On April 10th, 1979, a big one hit Wichita Falls. It took two days before I found out my family was ok.

I remember that one. Was it ever rated on the Fujita scale (which came into use later?)?

F-4 and was the most devastating tornado until the OKC one two years ago. Both touchdowns were separated by about 40 miles.

That bulletin from this site:

http://kamala.cod.edu/svr/

And,it appears they never warned regarding the Throck. tornado itself.I've worried for some time about public complacency developing from widespread warnings of "doppler indicated" tornadoes.I hope we haven't gotten to some point where Doppler has to confirm public sitings before a warning is issued.

doppler radar shows very strong rotation along with inflow and outflow jets into the storm over the NE part of the county...Looks like the storm is becoming a high precipatation Supercell,,,meaning the tornado may be wrapped in rain and hard to see..

Hey you! :)

We had lightning and hail all night last night and the path between our house and the next door neighbor's is a river that merges into the river that used to be a street and sidewalk.

We're in the process of getting our front wall and roof fixed from the tornado that came through here last fall. We've already replaced the fence.

Someone tell me when there isn't a tornado around here.

Those lightning bolts were coming straight down last night. We didn't get hit this time, but the phone lines went dead for a few hours.

Don't forget to turn your radio on once in awhile. ;)

Thanks FWI.
