Will the real terrorist(s) please stand up! (From our Saudi Allies)

LAST WEEK, on a fishing trip and during a lull of fish biting in the Red Sea, the radio blared with the latest carnage being committed by the Israelis against the Palestinians. Soon the talk shifted to politics as each member of the fishing party offered his opinion on the current crisis.

“What is going on today in the West Bank is pure terrorism,” said Samir. “The Israelis are committing one atrocity after another, while Bush banally lectures Arafat on terrorism! Unarmed individuals are being shot and killed in cold blood. Foreign journalists, witnesses to these summary executions are being threatened with deportation, and the expansion of this occupying power continues. America’s war on terror is more aptly America’s war of terror, as US-supplied bullets are used freely in this on-going massacre.”

Omar added, “Sharon is a terrorist, pure and simple. One has to study history to understand his twisted mind. In a recorded interview some years back with Gen. Ouze Merham, this is what he had to say: ‘I don’t know something called International Principles. I vow that I’ll burn every Palestinian child (that) will be born in this area. The Palestinian woman and child is (sic) more dangerous than the man, because the Palestinian child’s existence infers that generations will go on, but the man causes limited danger. I vow that if I was just an Israeli civilian and I met a Palestinian I would burn him and I would make him suffer before killing him. With one hit I’ve killed 750 Palestinians (in Rafah in 1956).’ Add the massacres of Sabra and Shatilla to his responsibility and what have you? A revolting figure no better than Hitler or Milosevic. This indeed is the evil force steering Israeli and US policies in the region.”

Talal interjected with his views on Israeli atrocities being carried out so blatantly. “While Bush steers cattle back in his ranch, the Israelis are attempting to steer Palestinians into oblivion. They call the bombers terrorists? No George, these people are using whatever means available in their hands including the sacrifice of their own lives to fight back at the occupiers and aggressors.”

“Were they so freely and generously armed by the Americans with a continuous supply of F-16s and the latest field armaments, they would have certainly employed them against the military occupiers.

“They cannot get to the heavily fortified Israeli military installations with their meager weaponry. Thus they resort to blowing themselves up wherever. A hopeless people resort to desperate means. And more will continue to sacrifice their lives until this unjust occupation comes to an end!”

Talal continued. “And just look at the arrogance of Sharon, a transplanted Ukrainian offering Arafat a one way ticket out. Just who does he think he is? Arafat is a native of Palestine and so were his forefathers, while Sharon and millions like him have invaded a once peaceful region from various European countries. Not content with their share of land they have embarked on territorial expansion ever since the formation of this so called ‘sole democracy’‚ in the region. If this is indeed democracy, then give me death!”

Perhaps the most geo-politically naïve US president in recent memory, Mr. Bush has defined political differences in world affairs along this simplistic approach: “Either you are with us, or you are a terrorist!” Steered on by his own axis of evil‚ of Fleischer, Rice and Rumsfeld with their own selfish agendas, Mr. Bush has embarked on a dangerous role of being the self-appointed legendary Dragon slayer.

Dispatching US military forces to all corners of the globe in a policy that rebuffs established international rules of conduct, he is today wearing the badge of top cop. And as he waffles on political issues and stumbles along in a daze, with each moment of indecisiveness more innocent lives are lost.

This shift in the US government’s policy has not only smacked of arrogance, but ignorance. Ignorance only matched by the selfish protection of the interests of a minority group with a powerful voice in US politics and media. And then the Americans incredulously wonder: “Why do they hate us!”

Whatever democratic ideals that that great country was founded on are slowly being thrown out of the window. The rights of their own citizens are slowly being usurped. Big Brother has flexed his muscles in an ugly way. Distracted by the big media hoax of the threat of anthrax, recent changes in regulations, under the guise of fighting terrorism, have quietly crept in.

Regulations that are gradually diminishing the liberty and freedom of the average American. Dissent against the government is being frowned upon, and the liberty given to the government to snoop on its own citizens has been expanded. Have the rays of twilight begun settling down on this empire, as they have on so many great empires of eras gone past?

There are those like Ariel Sharon who defiantly wear the badge of a terrorist and continue to manipulate and reject agreed to international peaceful resolutions. And then there are those who silently support them. They are no less the evil Sharons of this world. Where does that leave you, Mr. Bush?

Utter stupidity.

Is this quote legitimate?

Who knows, I'd doubt it considering the source and the fact that you can only find it on a couple of pro-Palistinian sites.

Sharon was born in 1928 in what was then British Mandate of Palestine

Making Sharon more Palestinian than Arafat.
