You replied to a post I made way back in March. Bored???
Oil played a part in WW2, Viet Nam, Gulf War 1, Afghanistan, and soon to be Gulf War 2. But my question was, wouldn't the world be a better place if "free energy" technologies came to fruition....and the world could finally be weaned of oil as fuel.
Heh, heh. Ok. So now we all know that we can change elements (uranium, mercury, and platinum at least) to gold. It's just that a person would go broke doing it. (Say, I did say using just electricity. You don't have a link to how to induce electron-capture with just electricity do you? )
How about oxygen into nitrogen? Here's an interesting thought.. What if a civilization used nuclear explosions to hollow out caverns on the moon. Would they be able to not only "cook" some of the oxygen out of the rocks, but also transmute it into nitrogen? Any left-over neutrons (which would decay into hydrogen)? It would be a crude "Genesis effect".
Any knowlege about nuclear isomers?
