Press Release from Jeff Gordon

Statement From Jeff Gordon

"As you are probably well aware, Brooke has filed for divorce. Being a personal matter, I hope that everybody will respect our privacy as we work through this difficult time.

"I also hope everybody will understand that it would be improper for me to discuss or comment on this matter publicly.

"I appreciate the support I've received from my family, friends and those in the racing community."

So sad.

FYI: 24, Dupont, rainbow paintjob. Former crewchief runs the Chrysler effort. Or at least some of the cars.
My sister is a big fan. Speechless when I called her up Saturday to tell her.

Their marriage is "irretrievably broken as a result of the husband's marital misconduct," according to the document.

I've already seen people saying it was because he was screwing around. However, this is just 1 side of the story, hers. And, when there is big money, (as we've seen with Hollyweird) people get stupid. The lawyer speak could mean many things. Will be interesting to see what his lawyers statement respond with, and what comes up.

Brooke Gordon, 30, wants exclusive use of the couple's 23,095-square-foot oceanfront home in Highland Beach, valued at $9 million for tax purposes.

The couple also owns a second home on Palm Beach, according to the divorce petition filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. She is asking that her husband continue to pay the salaries of the daytime and evening housekeepers, maintenance workers and the chef at the Highland Beach home.

She is also seeking alimony, the Porsche and the Mercedes 600 SL, and periodic use of their boats and the Falcon 200 airplane owned by one of their companies

Goldigger alarm just went off. Lets see, go from Miss Winston Cup and 9 years later trying to get a 9 million dollar home, full staff, two cars, and use of a boat and private jet. Sounds like someone hit the lotto, or is trying to.

"ensure that Mrs. Gordon is treated equitably, particularly in light of the fact that he's become such a good success during their marriage."

Nothing like riding on the coat-tails. I'm not saying she's entitled to nothing. But did she get in that car and drive every Sunday? A pretty big payout for 'support'. Sure beats a 401K.

one of two firms representing Brooke Gordon

She hired TWO firms? Someone isn't playing around.

Oh well, such is life. Someone else mentioned something similar in one of the messages on the threads. Seeing some butt-ugly professional athlete (not saying Gordon is) with a drop dead gorgeous model wife, and listening to the "I love him because he's so sweet" garbage when they're interviewed. Sorry sweetie, but if it wasn't for the bankrolled millions, you wouldn't have given him the time of day when you first met.

One word Gordon will not be forgetting in the future.... prenup.

"Can anyone tell me what happened to Earnharts first wife?"

She pulled a *Brooke* on 'em; and, as a result was paid beaucoup $$ to shush-up & blow.
His first wife, just in case you didn't already know, was the mother of *all* his children; except the youngest daughter who was Terry's.

"And am I the only one who thinks Cale Yarborough was the best ever?"

Naturally, one may hold sacrosanct any driver their heart desires; and, Cale was damned good in his day.
*Especially* at fighting. {g}
Of course, so was Jr.Johnson, Darryl Waltrip, Fireball Roberts & on & on the list goes.
After all; the sport's been around since the 40s, eh?

IMO & FWIW: they'd best stop screwing around with it, too.
What-with the multitude of assinine rule changes & lousy calls such as witnessed at Las Vegas?

NASCAR is poised to lose two long-time fans; us.
I'm sure NASCAR has banked on replacing us (wife & I) with the *newer* fans drawn by the, "Young Guns" {gag}; given their behaviors over the past 3 or so years?

However, methinks they're going to learn real quick those youngsters aren't as loyal & longstanding as we oldtimers...

Folks, we are assuming without getting all the facts that Jeff was 'messing around on Brooke'. It has not been stated that Jeff had an affair, just marital misconduct. Give him a break until the facts are out. If we were all perfect our name would be 'Jesus Christ'.

If you ever get the chance, make sure you take a look at the 1966 Chevelle that never ran. This was the one that he built for the 1968 Daytona 500 that NASCAR outlawed 2 hours before qualifying. Smokey later found out the reason - since he had broken the 180 mph barrier in practice and was 6 mph faster than the Ford and Chrysler factory teams with his little independent Chevy, Ford and Chrylser threatened to pull their NASCAR sponsorships if the car was allowed to run. NASCAR knuckled under and DQ'd the car.

This Chevelle had even more tricks on it than the 1967 one. The current owner allowed us to use it in our booth at SEMA last year and then took it over to the vintage races at Fontana. It doesn't come out much, but when it does, you should really try to see it. It still runs and is in perfect condition.

NASCAR had a driver die of AIDS back in the late '80s and it was hushed up. Yes, Virginia there are homos in NASCAR.

It was not hushed up and I hate to burst your bubble but Mr. Tim Richmond was no homo, he got aids from all the hot 'pit lizards' he was screwing.

If I was a rich man there is no way in Hell I would get married without a prenup. I guess I'm lucky that I'm poor, I always tell my wife that if she divorces me, nothing divided by nothing is still nothing. hehehehe

Trueblackman: "I believe that marriage is forever and that in America we take it to lightly!!!"

Amen! You've got that right, Kev! Get on up there and preach it!

BTW - are you going to be back on H&C anytime soon? I enjoy watching you turn the libs inside out... :-)

Regards,

Since Jeff hasn't been winning like he used to (after all, he's gone 13 whole races without a top-5), the "extra burden" that Brooke had to assume was how to get on camera on her own. I've long heard one of the most dangerous places to be was between Brooke and a TV camera I think she should get compensated based on what she brought into the coffers. Figure out how many races she won, and pay up accordingly.

You are dead on the money. I've told my daughter the same. Tie up ends *before* they become loose, not after.

Jeff Gordon is a handsome devil, but that "lisp" concerns me........is he straight?

Why, whatever would make you question whether or not he is straight? :)

For all you Gordon fans, this is just a joke. :)
