"I kept the lights on," Davis said in an interview with editors at The San Diego Union-Tribune. "It just sounds a little presumptuous, but I think I should at least get a round of applause. I don't get squat."

Priceless...on so many levels.

Where would the world get Idiot Quotes if there were no liberals?

LOL! I saw that thread. I only wish I had made the connection first. Good job! Squat for Gray-out Davis.

"Simon needs to bring out clips of Davis announcing terrorist attacks imminent on 4 main bridges in CA and shutting them all down! Remind those voters just how loony Davis really is!"

An excellent idea! It'll never happen though. The Media would paint him as running a negative campaign.

"Surprisingly, Davis offered a pat on the back to Enron, the bankrupt Houston power trader accused of fraud. "Enron was the best of the lot," he said. "They dealt with us more honestly."

Translation: 'Enron gave me more money'...

Davis might be right. I doubt Simon has the experience needed to parlay a mere problem into a catastrophe and then get paid for it big time. It's very hard to find this experience at the State level.

"If I didn't panic, you wouldn't be able to put out your paper," he said, visibly agitated. " . . . I kept the lights on in this state, do you understand that? I kept the lights on! (Critics) don't know what they're talking about."

When I reached this quote I scrolled back to the top on the page to make sure I wasn't reading a Onion article. This is almost self-parody.

Gray-Out is loosing it.

"I didn't think seizing a power plant that is 30 to 40 years old would be a good expenditure of money," Davis said, referring to the state's aging power plants.

Nice to know he based his decision based on economics rather than on respect for private property and free enterprise < /sarcasm >.

Not so fast, buddy! Ted Kennedy has had many blackouts, and he still manages to get re-elected.

Thanks for the post and the ping!

I'm sure that a little fascist in Italy just before he was shot and hung or hung and shot, said the same type of nonsense, "Hey, I kept the Trains on Time!"

Davis looked like he is about to lose his hold on sanity during the little I watched him after he was declared the winner.

He is a vicious and control oriented freak/thug, who needs to be defeated. Then investigate him for criminal actions, and then a Grand Jury indicts him for criminal behavior.

I would like to see he and Condidit share a cell starting in 2003! They deserve each other!

We need to treat this creep like the Da$$hole creep and target him with reality each day to see him explode each day!

what he should have done was obvious, as proposed by many freepers: As soon as the crisis hit, allow rate increases to be passed on to consumers. If he'd done that, there would be no half-bankrupt utilities, and the rate increases would have most likely been in place for only a few months. By now they would have been long forgotten.

Intersting that you mentioned that, when you consider that Davis himself knew it all along. Didn't he make some comment to the effect of "I could solve this problem in 10 minutes if we allowed rate increases."

I'm not from CA, so I only know a little bit about Davis. I always thought of him as just boring and slow. Based on this article, I wonder if he is also a little bit delusional.
