Ridge and Bush are long time buddies. Do you really believe that if GWB didn't value the guy's thinking & capabilities he would have put his pal in a position to look like a schmuck. Sorry but I can't buy the logic.

Supposedly United has studied the risks of frying the plane's electronics with the stun gun discharge and have determined or selected a type of stun gun that will not be too big a risk. I suspect it is possible some systems might have temporary problems but won't fry. Afterall, moderns planes can survive lightening strikes.

I think it is a better argument that the stun won't reliably stop a manical attacker.
