He's only one vote and I believe he wasn't on any transportation committees. However our other Senator, Kyl is and has spoken out about it.

I do believe McCain called most of the allocation of federal money for the Olympics 'pork for Utah.' It is over and done with, I don't agree that all the federal money should have been spent, neither do I agree that Utah taxpayers should have been stuck with the whole expense of hosting the Olympics, it was not only for us, it was for all Americans and the world. Those allocations were made years ago. I really don't know how else to respond, except again to say, if one lives in Houston or NY or wherever, fight having the Olympics come. They did turn out really well in Utah, but it was a real nightmare there for awhile...

I don't have an issue about the money expended for the Olympics. I do care about the issue that AZ taxpayers pay more taxes to the feds in relation to transportation then it get back in assistance.

I can understand why you might be concerned that the taxpayers of Arizona are "getting back" less than they pay. However, the real problem is that the money goes to Washington in the first place.
Why should the federal government tax the people of Arizona -- or any other state -- only to give some of the money back as "assistance"? Even if Arizonans were to get their fair share of the federal money, it would still be less than the taxes they paid. It would be better to cut out the federal middleman and pay for your own highways.
(And I do take issue with the money expended for the Olympics. As far as I can tell, there is nothing in the Constitution authorizing the federal government to spend tax dollars on sporting events. I doubt there is such a provision in the Utah constitution either. But don't get me started on that. . . .)
