"This is really disgusting, exploiting a tragedy. As bad, if not worse, than Jonathan Edwards." I agree with you that either this is a case of exploitation, or the "rent-a-cops" were getting high.
However, what does Jonathan Edwards have to do with this? (I am assuming that you mean Jonathan Edwards, theologian and pastor, born in 1703.) Just how is he guilty of exploiting tragedy?
If you are referring to the 18th century preacher, possibly you aren't comfortable with the message of the Gospel, that all men are dead in trespasses and sins, and are deserving of death and hell, and that they need to be justified before God by the atoning work of Jesus Christ.

Johnathon Edwards has a psychic show where he talks to deceased relatives of people in the studio audience. I dont know what to think of the show though...most likely smoke and mirrors, he probably does somekind of background profile on everyone in the studio audience.

No, I'm talking about the quack whose "talk to the dead" show appears on the SciFi channel, and who tried to make a few quick bucks talking to the victims of 911.

Thanks for letting me know.
It is too bad that this quack has the same name as the man who is probably the greatest American theologian. I assume that his parents had higher aspirations for him.

It's called cold reading, a trick you can learn in half an hour -- though like any other human skill, some have more talent than others.
"Is there anyone in the audience thinking of someone whose name begins with the letter J", etc. If you don't know what to make of this I have a bridge for sale...
It helps if you tape the show and only broadcst the best parts.

That was pretty tasteless, the post 911 show attempt. Didnt he pull out at the last minute due to people voicing objections?

Do the ghosts have to get tickets to the show just like everyone else?

You're thinking of John Edward, as in "Crossing Over With". Jonathan Edwards was (as JerryM notes) a preacher.

My wife and I enjoy his show. I haven't done the research to determine if it's smoke and mirrors or not. Furthermore I doubt any of the naysayers have either. Once again, ignorance is bliss and it's easy to discredit others on a whim.
By the way, his show was renewed for 62 more episodes on the Sci-fi channel (11:00pm Pacific).

He was never a preacher. He was in the health-care industry.
You are thinking of Sam Kinnison.

I thought Johnathon Edwards does the song "Put a Good Buzz On"

He also is now broadcasting on a local Dallas Channel opposite Oprah , I think its a FOX affiliate. I have wathced it a time or two as well..it gets a bit strange at times, he gets pretty detailed on some of the stuff. But he is no match for Carnac the Magnificent.

This is just as disgusting as that 'Crossing Over w/ John Edwards' they were going to do with him contacting the victims of 9-11.

She's cute -- too bad she's a nut case (or a cynical exploiter).

Well, I think we can agree that JE is one of two things:
1) A bonafide medium getting rich.
2) A fake medium getting rich.
To: Delbert
The whole thing is pretty tastless. I will not watch anything on SciFi until they pull this turkey. He belongs on Comedy Central of one of the Women's channels (offense intended).

There's a goofball on the cable/satellite "SciFi" channel named Jon Edward(s?) who claims the ability to talk to the dead. He's a fraud, and not even a very good one. His show is called "Crossing Over". FYI
