If Jesse Jackson was there, he would have axed the guy to behave.

I was just being a wise ass. Hard to believe here in the land of the free, that we can't deal with this problem in a better way. If enough sheep would stop flying, call it flexing muscle (Consumers can do that), then maybe our gubmint would start concentrating their efforts on the roots of 9/11. They haven't used their guns to our heads to force us to fly, yet. The clown in this incident was easily dealt with and it didn't cost us billions to subdue him, did it? Does this mean we're gonna bomb Uraguay? Blackbird.

A name is a name is a name. Perhaps my comment was out of line. However, I think its almost stupid that everyone wants to assume that if someone causes a problem on an airplane they are middle eastern. I have as much contempt for the Taliwackers that caused us this massive injustice as anyone else but I dont believe in judging people by the color of their skin or their place of birth. Many Americans have created what most would consider an acceptable racism, any way you look at it, its wrong. Im going to get off my soapbox now.....

My youngest son decided his size 13 shoe might make a good weapon.

If he wears a size 13 he's probably big enough to tackle one of them and knock them cold ! :)

The flight crew (captain and first officer) have been trained to use the crash axe to subdue and/or kill dangerous passengers for at least five years. In fact, they already have at least one kill done this way that accidentally leaked out a couple years ago, but it was "spun" so the public didn't see it for what it was.

Have all of these incidents aboard airlines increased since 9/11 or are we just hearing about each and every one, now?

Decreased since 9-11. In prior years there were an average of about 70 hijackings a year of U.S. airliners, but the press went along with a policy of no publicity in order not to encourage copycats and other nut cases.

At least one major airline. Their international flight captains now have lots of other goodies in a "kit."

Thanks for clarifying your earlier comments. You'll have to excuse me. I had just gotten home from 8+ hours of dealing with whipporwills at work (convicted felons) and I took your comments literally.

I haven't flown in years. Couldn't stand it then and have no desire or need to ever fly again. Having worked in the security field for the past 22 years, having been in sticky situations from time to time, and having had to be responsible for preventing breaches in security, I tend to be a bit more critical of the way some of these incidents are handled. It's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback, but the behavior of some of these so-called security people at the airports makes me want to scream!

an average of about 70 hijackings a year of U.S. airliners

Can I assume this includes incidents of unruly passengers that endanger the crew, passengers, or aircraft?

He's 19 and stands 6-2 and weighs 245. He could just fall on them. LOL

We're not talking about people who defecate on the drink cart, but attempts to enter the flight deck (cockpit) in a foul mood with who knows what on their minds.
