How do we know he had not been dealing with it? Let's face it, she's an adult in the eyes's of the law, and short of locking her in a room, she gets to call the shots in her life. She did and now she will have to go into a court of law to have the matter heard.

Point taken.

is drudge down

Not exactly, but it didn't load the first couple of times I tried. Maybe it's having server problems over being over-hit. Try again; I bet it'll work.

I understand what you're saying, I just do not know what Jeb could have done. I'd like to think the kids understand the responsibility they have in all this - even though they did not ask for their fathers to be in the positions they are.

These folks are human too and make mistakes. Now they need to make the clear distinction between the Right and the Left and accept responsibility and make it right. The Left looks to place responsibility on others and let society know how they have let the offender down. I hope Jeb and Noelle make the correct choice.

Jeb Bush on Drugs Mandatory prison sentences for drug offenses. http://www.issues2000.org/Jeb_Bush.htm

And? What's your point?

My friend, you will be on the wrong side of this issue and you don't even know it yet. Please call C-Span and let them know your opinions...

According to another poster on this thread, Jeb Bush knew his daughter had a problem. He should have been proactive in dealing with it, since he knows that his job as an elected official leaves him wide open to attack for failing to do so, thereby threatening his ability to do the job he was elected to do! It shouldn't have taken his daughter's arrest to get him to act.

How do we know he had not been dealing with it? Let's face it, she's an adult in the eyes's of the law, and short of locking her in a room, she gets to call the shots in her life. She did and now she will have to go into a court of law to have the matter heard.

Fury, you are absolutely correct. Anyone who has dealt with a substance abuser knows that there are no easy answers and no sure answers. If the substance abuser is an adult, you have no power over them unless they are a threat to themselves or others. You can talk, reason, suggest, plead and beg until you are blue in the face. Until they reach "bottom" and make a decision on their own to change, there is little you can do except wait for that moment when they seek help and decide to change their lives.

Boy, you just don't give up, do you?

Crapola. He admitted he was drinking too much, and stopped because of it. He had, therefore, a drinking problem, no matter how you might try to explain it away, Tinkerbell.

You called him a "recovering alcoholic". He is not a recovering alcoholic. You lied.

Re: The Bush twins: Really? They were fined for underage drinking. Most kids I know, in fact all of them, aren't.

Oh, well that must mean that other kids don't drink. Or does it mean they just don't get caught? Or that if they're caught, they don't get fined? You said they were "heavy drinkers". Do they only fine the kids who drink a lot when they catch them, or are you calling them fat?

This is fun! It ought to be a board game. (Except it's too easy.)

I give a crap because it stinks to high heaven of hypocrisy, something that republicans like Bush seem to enjoy bathing in every morning.

No, what you want is perfection, correct and anything less is complete and utter failure? Instead of striving for being better, and along the way, falling, getting back up, and moving forward, do you suggest not even trying because you might fall along the way?

Again, I can only hope that many, many Dems think like you. If they do and you push this issue hard, it will be a great 2002 Election Cycle for the GOP.

Hi folks, I'm back!

I thought I'd drop in and start taking bets on who will be the 1000th poster on the "Jeb Bush's Daughter Arrested" thread.

Any takers? Or will JimRob come in and pull the thread?

Better yet, someone ought to get Focault's Pendulum back online and ask him if he's logged in.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

LOL! I hope the thread does not yanked because it may give us some good insight into Dem strategery. I like that word, because as you so aptly point out, people underestimate GW - and then he promptly slam dunks them!

"it will take leadership to coordinate and direct a balanced approach to lowering both the demand for and the supply of drugs. This has been and remains one of my foremost priorities." - http://www.issues2000.org/Governor/Jeb_Bush_Drugs.htm

I love this. This IS great. Do you have lots of Dem friends who are in leadership positions that believe as you do? Please say yes.

The Kennedy children have done much worse. This is a non-story.

Remember, just when you think they've (media) has hit rock bottom, the rock slide begins anew.

Keep explaining away the chemical foibles of those wacky Bushes. If they walk like ducks, talk like ducks and drink like fish...

I'm pinging Common Tator on this as he is more eloquent (sp?) that I.

Let's see if people care more about the US being safe and supporting our troops to do the best they can, and taking note of the economy versus you crowing about this and Sen Daschle making comments about the economy being Enron'd - and doing little else. Even the Dems I work with say that the Enron employees that had much of their 401(k) assets in Enron stock were knotheads.

I think what drives you mad is that GW outfoxes the Dems. It stings doesn't it?
