of Christ Community Church in Alamogordo, N.M., burning copies of "Harry Potter" and Shakespeare

That's odd. It seems to me that the politically-correct crowd are the ones who are always trying to get rid of poor ol' Will Shakespeare - and Mark Twain.

Could it be that the problem is just with the actual destruction of the books (she asked sarcastically)? It's not okay to burn books, but just flushing them down the memory-hole is a-okay?

It is ironic that "book burning" is always attributed in the media to the nazis when it was the communists who regularly burned books in first, Russia and then later, the Soviet Union, though this aspect of the "brave new communist world" went un or under reported in the American media. Of course, also under reported by American media despite knowing the true state of affairs - were the numerous instances of mass murder of class enemies of the new communist regime. The New York Times actually helped Stalin cover up the mass murder/starvation of 7 million Ukranians.
