That is the critical point the Doctor cannot see. When dealing with a person that is probably not well educated or financially secure, higher reason is lost to direct promises of food, shelter and what have you. In this sense even the new immigrant is thinking clearer than the Doctor. Of course the American taxpayers will pick up the tab as usual.

Name any other ethnic/religious/linguistic group getting remotely so much government service - particularly "bilingual education" - in some language other than English in the U.S.! "Bilingual education" is almost never about any other language but Spanish.

People so often over look this unprecedented change to the American culture. The frog in a pot of water that is rising in temperature applies well here. To make matters worse we have the spectacle of the 2 parties groveling on the ground before Hispanics while all the other constituencies...like the productive taxpaying AMERICANS that make this country go are ignored. It depends on where someone is living --- if someone doesn't live near New Mexico, chances are they never met one of the "native" New Mexicans, they aren't the people who are moving into other states in high numbers. New Mexico does have Conservative Hispanics but I don't meet many who refer to themselves as Mexicans and most will even politely correct someone who calls them one because many have never stepped foot south of the border and their grandparents didn't either.

Silvestre Reyes' claim to fame was Operation Blockade and Hold the Line and it got him elected to Congress because people in this very Hispanic area were pretty glad to think someone was finally doing something about border control. I even know quite a few immigrants from Mexico who live here now and think the border should be better controlled.

We haven't seen anything yet when it comes to the "minorities and women hit hardest" articles. I was just at prudentbear.com reading Doug Noland's credit bubble report and he had some interesting comments about the GSE lending spree. It seems Franklin Raines has it in his head that the egalitarian utopia is an oversized mortgage away for blacks and hispanics. It seems that they have a good many programs to help the "disenfranchised" to make it into housing they can ill afford or could not make any down payment, but at least they don't have PMI to contend with. So if the great god of credit creation falls and the economy tanks the Washington Post will have plenty of fodder for its conservative bashing.

It is certainly delusional. I'm quite sick of them for one thing simply because all the ammo they have is to charge "racism" and to equate themselves to Martin Luther King as bearers of the real equality (never mind that King was comsymp, Oops not supposed to say that delete me). Paul Gottfreid has a good piece at v-dare reaming out the posers at NR and the neo-con establishment. So for the record bring on the Hispanic nirvana and finish off the GOP as a force in the presidential election cycle. It will be more than the presidency they lose.  The republican party will be finished as a viable choice in any federal office.  It may not be the next election but it isn't that far off.

The GOP is what is called by a Leninist a "false opposition", one created to give a false sense of balance and to dilute the opposition. Only the real bearers of the current ideology of Multi-cultural social democracy can blunt the effects they create in the first place. Our only hope is that the crude race baiting from the Democrats stops somewhat short of Zimbabwe before we become Zimbabwe. At FR we are not supposed to match race with politics except to take the bland "we are all one" cliche, but if the Left does not tone down Multi-culturalism the party is over since the GOP is intent on playing the Ethnic Bidding game as well and racial politics in this country will be the end all to the end all.

I will agree the republicans are a false opposition.  There is no substantial difference between the two party's, only a perceived difference.  The records of the two party's bear that out.

Both increase government.  Both increase control.

The left isn't going to stop playing the race card no matter what happens.  It works so well for them.

I have seen signs of the Left rethinking its empowering of the racial Fascists, but I don't think they can do much besides influence a few of them that they have bought off with high paying jobs in the media, like Clarence Page for example who soft peddles the grievanceisms. We are in interesting times kind of like pre-civil war Lebanon a bustling commerce driven hedonistic community of Eloi with the Morlocks waiting ever restlessly below us waiting for the darkness. Personally I think immigration is a lost issue and the only reason to fight it is to bring together a people or community if you like who can muddle thru our looming disaster before we are like those hapless farmers in Zimbabwe.
