Lieberman is independant all right. He questioned Clinton on sexcapades and campaign finance but ultimately he stood beside and hand in hand with the Democrats.Just like the stance on Hollywood he was firm until the showdown. This is not meant to exonorate the Republicans they are just as bad.If we could clear Washington of Liberals like Daschle and Gephardt along with the Republican Liberals GW might have a chance to straighten some of this mess out.But lets not fool ourselfs it is always been and will not change in DC it is first self and then party and to hell with America.Your ruling class has spoken! We need to get rid of this senioritycrap, have term limits and limit some of these bimbos powers.along with their relatives on the payrolls in DC.

"I don't know about every meeting my staff is holding," he said, "or every request for a meeting. There must be hundreds and thousands of contacts between my office and labor unions, industry, military officials and so on." Thanks, Joe. Your "moral authority" (gag) has just taken the President and his team off whatever hook you're trying to snag him with.

Its tough here in CT. Is there a GOP politician here in CT who is not a RINO? Gary Franks maybe, but I can't get real excited about him.

Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman's most potent political weapon - his moral authority This is classic David Lightman opening line. He discusses Democratic political stategy as if it were fact. His front page articles always read like editorials.

-- Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman's most potent political weapon - his moral authority - came under harsh questioning Thursday following news that his staff met with Enron officials and did not tell him for months.Bull****. I bet he not only met with Enron officials, I bet he's up to his eyeballs in this whole mess.

Lieberman has a staff of sixty and he doesn't know what they are doing. Sounds like Lay and his excuse for the Enron debacle.

"The whole goal of the investigation is to learn something to make sure that a scandal like Enron doesn't happen again," he said.BZZZTT. Sen. Lieberman, be honest now, you know the goal is take Enron, bend and twist it into a pretzel and jam it down W's throat.

Spin control city - it won't work, Sinator LIEberman.

Lieberman countered that his motives for convening his committee, and publicizing his investigation all over the media, are simply to learn the facts about a disturbing problem. "The whole goal of the investigation is to learn something to make sure that a scandal like Enron doesn't happen again," he said.
Right there he admits he is going to do NOTHING. Just another Demorat using the "disturbing" adjective

If only I could format faster! ;-)

Lieberman is just PO'ed that others got more $$$ than he did--just a paultry $2000 while other got upwards of $57000. But the truth of the matter is that he got much more than that. He started a New Democrats political group which got buku bucks from Enron. The New Democrats exist to keep Ol' Joe Wrinklepuss in office.
Talk about conflict of interests!

Gary Franks maybe, but I can't get real excited about himI love Franks but the CT pubs used him as a sacrificial lamb against the DODDering one in '96. But times they are a changin' and maybe a conservative black's campaign might resonate a little louder this time.
Ken, do I owe you or do you owe me? :-)

I keep waiting for his cheeks to hit the floor. He has practiced that sanctimonious look for so long now he looks like a ventriloquist's dummy. I have a pic of him shaking hands with arafat. If there ever was a conscience in him somewhere, it was surely gone then. I have seen no sign of it re-entering his wretched self.

Agreed. Being associated in any way shape or form with Arafat proved it - but so did his being associated with the moral-less AlgoreBillClinton crime syndicate!

"Honest Joe" is laying the groundwork for his pal, "Honest John McCain" and he to get a restictive campaign finance bill through Congress that will empower the press to choose the President.
They both know they are idolized by the press and it suits their purpose down the political road. Joe's investigation will show that "everybody does it" and as McCain has said "we are all corrupt".
So much for honest representation of the public's interest and duty to country, NOT.

I had high hopes for Rob Simmons when his campaign against sam gejdensuck first started. But as time went on, he seemed to moderate quite a bit. But, not being in his district I didn't know a whole lot about him pre-campaign anyway so maybe he wasn't as conservative as I thought. Time will tell.
