Apologies if you feel this post is off topic, though I think it's an appropriate tangent.
Tex, you've correctly made the call at #50, #51, #54, #59 and elsehwere that some on this thread were engaging in baiting.
But I saw no similar reply to the "NKVD gang" remark at #79. Sounds like baiting to me.
So do comments like "shill," "amen corner," "spread their filth," "thread bangers," "usual suspects," etc. Or the pork and kielbassa wisecracks in the midst of a debate about Israel.
Last night, I made the following observation here:
" I've also noticed that a number of self-described "America-firsters" and "anti-zionists" really seem to take a twisted sort of pleasure of rattling the cages of the "usual suspects" and the "amen-corner." They strike poses just outside the line of anti-semitism and taunt and bait and stick their thumbs in their ears, fingers a wiggling, just to provoke a visceral reaction from those with whom they disagree on Israel policy. As though they want to be called "anti-semite," and then make the charge of an ad hominem against their opposition. "
After about 80 posts of unsuccessfully trying to engage a self-described "America-firster" in debate on the merits, during which I called no one an anti-semite, "Islam-firster," or anything of the kind, I got this reply:
"For someone who is not Jewish you sure do have quite the knowlege about Israeli policy. This is very comical, all the Israeli supporters are not even Jewish. You and onyx and Lent all claim not be Jewish, so how much are they paying you ?"
Seems to me there's a lot of bait being thrown from all sides, no?
Amen.
As soon as we do that, some evil empire will stake claim. History doesn't doesn't seem to be one of your strong points.
Objectively? Probably.
Subjectively? Only from the jerks.
I believe in punishing the terrorists and the nations who harbor them.
But let us beware and heed Washington's warning against 'foreign entanglements'.
As FDR has proved, war is often the means to implement bigger and bigger government.
Would that include those who toss around "NKVD gang," "shill," "amen corner," "spread their filth," "thread bangers," "usual suspects," etc? Or those who make the pork and kielbassa wisecracks in the midst of a debate about Israel?
Who do you think "picked them?"
No, they cannot always renounce their citizenship. There are many threads on this subject here on FR which I have participated in.
And you said they should "Get Lost" or something to that effect which sounded to me like a euphamism for "get out of the country". What else would you mean by "get lost" -- how could they have their citizenship stripped and still remain in the USA? Give them a visa to stay?
I have no interest in enfranchising dual citizens. I simply state that it is a question of law. It's very simple if you would investigate it. As I stated, a person born in the USA is an American by rights. If this person has a British father, by British law, he is also a British citizen. It is not a question of choice, loyalty or thought, it is simply a matter of law. And it is impossible to renounce your British citizenship if you had one from birth. They don't recognize any renunciation of citizenships. Those are the facts.
As for me being honest, what bit of information do want from me? Do you want to know if I am a citizen of the USA? Of Israel? Of Britain? Just ask. I've answered these questions in great detail in the past.
IOW, those that are with me are great, those that oppose me are jerks.
Are you with me or are you a jerk? /any resemblance of humor.
So you are saying that some of the posters here live in a glass house of cards, eh? I agree.
It always seems to become a topic of any thread the Libertarians are in. A favorite term for them is "Drug Warriors." I thought that I would get my shot in first.
Are you saying that we need to change our foreign policies to be more obliging to the Arab World? Do we need to be more loving and kindly to the Muslims so that they won't be angry with us?
No.
