Rrrrrrright. That makes two of us Saddam. I just tested a nuclear bomb the other day during my lunchbreak. If you use yours I'll use mine.

Interesting.

We and other countries have seismic equipment that is capable of detecting a nuclear detonation anywhere in the world. That is why ore-mining companies in Wyoming use a string of smaller explosives instead of one huge one.
I find this story highly suspect.

Bring it on, Saddam. We have the biggest can of whoopass in the world...

Whatever your feelings on this story and news of Saddam Hussein in getting or having nuclear weapons, you had better quit laughing it off and the U.S. gov't had better too. We were caught off guard when(India, right?) tested nukes and it wouldn't be suprising if Saddam/Iraq's got some with the Russian black market and all. I wouldn't rule out China for that matter. *%(# China. We had better go after him now because there is no doubt that Iraqi beast is trouble in the forseeable future and pushing the problem aside will not help us in the long run. NOW is the time to act.

I find this story highly suspect. Suspect? It's nonsense.
NO NATION has EVER tested a nuclear weapon that the U.S. hasn't known about.

Chinese help?
To: sinkspur
I think we detect all detonations, above and below ground. If this were true, it would have been widely reported, as was Pakistan's nuke.

I doubt they could light one off without us knowing.
Was it "the mother of all tests"? LOL

If he did have the bomb before the Gulf War then why didnt he use it during the Gulf War??
To: bushfamfan
Yes the US was caught off guard by the actual testing of the bomb. We had detected the test the instant it happened. None of our intelligence agencies had predicted that it would happen though.
To: vannrox
"Gwynne Roberts stumbled on a trail of compelling evidence that the 'Butcher of Baghdad' has successfully tested a nuclear bomb."Bullshit.
"Could he really have hoodwinked the West?"
No.
...forget it; if ya gotta ask you're beyond help.

No laughing here. I'm only disputing that a nuclear explosion actually took place. My reasoning? Look at this:
Verification And this: A Relative Determination of Location and Magnitude Using Open Broadband Stations
I have no doubt that Saddam is developing nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons (especially since it can be shown that he used chem weapons against the Kurds) and that we have to take his crazy ass out ASAP or our problem with him will only grow bigger.

I guess that everyone trusts the intelligence that we obtain from our CIA. I think that we should hope for the best... but expect the worst. Personally, I don't believe either side.
I just can't see Iraq not having some type of Nuclear weapon. They have the money the network, and the desire. But, by the same token, I can't see them having one. Where would they possibly be able to get or design one?

That's right. Trinity and every test afterwords has been detected seismically. That's a fact. Other countries can detect nuclear explosions, too. If Iraq had done an underground test, we would have known about it. There is no doubt of that.
