I'm a freeware junkie. My choice of email programs, in order:
Pegasus (latest release)
Phoenix
Eudora
Eudora was #1 till it became ad supported and they changed it's GUI somewhat. I think Pegasus is more user friendly and fuller featured than Eudora. Pegasus was worth me making a new address book in it. Considering I've been on the internet 7 years, I have a few addresses!

You might try using correct syntax, http://www.freerepublic.com with the colon after the protocol specifier and two forward slashes. Yeah, stupid on my part. NOrmally I type a name ,hit ctrl-enter and it's done for me.
That's not the problem BTW. The bookmarks that came with the program will not work, except for the 'buy opera' bookmark.
After sleeping on it I think the answer is obvious. I'm dumping it.

Eudora. It's free. And since it isn't a Microsoft product it is resistant to viruses.
Also consider the Opera browser. Built in email, smaller, faster, and more reliable than IE.
