The plot sickens. Surely he wasn't so unethical as to omit that bit from the column in the print edition?

But SCOTUS has ruled that the President can remove any appointed official, even when the Senate advised the appointment/confirmation. The impeachment of President Johnson grew out of exactly this issue -- a bill (passed over veto) purported to give the Senate the authority to grant or deny approval for the firing of any official who had required Senate approval for the initial appointment. Johnson defied Congress, for which offense he was impeached (but acquitted by one vote).

Bush hopes to bamboozle black folks in much the same way his dad did when he named Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.Ther only people bamboozling black folk are people like Jesse Jackson,Al Sharpton & the Demoncrap Party.

Why doesn't President Bush urge Congress to shut down this stupid civil rights panel altogether? It sounds like a big waste of tax money and serves no purpose.
To: katze
Katze, you are absolutely correct. My frustration at our side playing by the rules while the other side makes a mockery of both the rules and our President is at times exemplified by a little "rantin'".

Berry loose her teeth as well? Ouch that must hurt.
I know she already lost her brain, so maybe the pain was muted

Instead of trying to strong-arm the commission Someone is trying to strong-arm the commission, and although that person sort of looks like a man, in fact she is a woman.
Wasn't the implicit statement that a black conservative ipso facto cannot be "a guardian of the interests of African Americans and other minorities" charming? Where is the decency? Where is the civility?

All of this may be a moot point.
Another Commissioner's term expired yesterday. His name is Russell Redenbaugh and he is a Republican. The Senate is next in turn to appoint a replacement with the Republicans being next in line to recommend a nominee to the Senate Majority leader. This alternating recommendation process is traditionally a courtesy. The Senate Majority leader (currently Tom Daschle) does not have to take the recommendation and it seems likely that the Repubs, this time, will give in to this in concession for a larger payback next time around. So, even if Victoria Wilson is unseated, the balance on the Commission will go back to 5 to 3 if Dashole is allowed to appoint a Democrat to the post.
We'll just have to wait another week or so to find out.

The follow-up on all this is that USA Today ran a letter today (Friday) from the Center for New Black Leadership pointing out that DeWayne was a protege of Ms. Berry, and futhermore adding that he was a racial thought police enforcer. Nice! Check it out if you have a copy of the paper.
