I will not be replying to defend myself any further on this thread. Do not take silence for a lack of argument but for respect to other's feelings.
Really and what lies would those be? You said "lies" plural, but couldn't even list one.
Do not take silence for a lack of argument but for respect to other's feelings
Since you didn't shown any respect for Victoria's and sirgawain's feelings up to now, I'll take your silence as the inability to frame even a figleaf of an argument.
What's really ludicrous Edd, is how you try to insult someone's intelligence, but can't even spell vacuous. Or how you falsely label character assassination as "good advice." Or how you have the audacity to berate someone over alleged "tactics" that are a figment of your feverish imagination. How could you possibly know that Victoria flags others to defend her "inane and vaccuous (sic) posts"? Answer: you couln't, but that didn't stop you from making and refusing to acknowledge (much less apologize for) your calumnies even when those persons who actually have the facts come forward to demolish your false and defamatory statements. But then, that seems to be a pattern with you -- see, e.g., The Long Road to Reconstruction
That said, this remark of yours to sirgawain is most revealing:
I've often wondered just how many people your friend FRmails for support everytime she outsmarts herself with one of her snide and inane posts.
Exactly how much of your time do you spend wondering about Victoria's emails there, Edd? You did say often, right? Since you're such a curious fellow and seem to have a lot of free time, have you ever wondered whether a 50-year-old man who spends a great deal of time (you did say 'often' right?) wondering about a 27-year old woman's email habits is playing with a full deck?
You did say one true thing:
Envy's an ugly thing, son. It'll eat you up.
LOL, I'm seeing it.

Yes, I agree totally. There is no justification which can be made for the civil rights act's consequences, but this act was passed by Congress, with politicians from both parties voting for it. In my own view (and I lived through the civil rights movement in the South) the civil rights movement was a social movement which had the potential to bring about much needed change, but it was seized upon by the federal government and used as a tool to expand federal powers.

Hush up now, Louise. I'm trying to discuss the article with the author. It turns out that she doesn't need your help anyway. She's pretty smart and tougher than you are.

1) You insult her and call her names
Any one that cares to look back over my posts will see for themselves if I called her names.
2)"equating my criticism of an article with the juvenile name calling
I'm sorry, but you, neither of you, criticized the article. You criticized the woman. Why do you think I was so genuinely surprised? And what does "What a jerk" mean then? If I assumed wrong I will apologize. Where did I interpret that wrong?
3)Yet you have no problem making unfair assumptions about sirgawain's motives
Which I stated I regretted making...
4)you insulted Victoria and sirgawain who never has a bad word to say to anyone.
This,as well, can be proven by anyone reading the thread.
5)What really galls me is when you first started posting, most people ignored you, but Victoria made it a point to respond to you.But now you that you have your little clique, so you can afford to trash the one person who befriended you when you didn't know anyone.
This first part, however, can not be proven by reading this thread. As for my posts, they were not ignored anymore than most others. It was, in fact, by friends I became interested in this forum. When I had questions, I would freepmail them. Yes, Victoria told me how to copy and paste a link address onto a bookmark link here at FR. She failed to tell me I was then under the obligation of never calling her on a single comment or post. Had I, I would have waited and asked someone else. Since she threw that incident up to insult me, I can see I was mistaken. I don't mind having a person crtitcize me if it's based on the fair truth. I assumed others were the same. It appears I was wrong.
I have no little clique (on-line), nor do I want one or need one.
6)The Freeoples?
Yes, the Freeoples thread. I assume you were trying to desperately imply some point, but having none, left it at insinuations. I have been on the freeoples threads. It is a fun thread much of the time. However, 98% of my posts there have been concerning political discussions that were on-going at the time. Anyone caring to verify may ask any of them. BTW, if you have a comment to make about that thread, I would be happy to pass it on. But it really would not be a good idea.
8) You dismiss someone's personal tragedy by turning it into a joke and a topping contest!
I think I finally get it! It seems you all just chose to apply the ugliest and most hateful of possible assumptions to everyone's words if they don't fall in line with you. It seems you chose to take everything as being done with the worst possible motive rather than leaving room that there could be another. Which is why you assume the worst that the writer of this letter was just an imaginative ploy.
And finally:
" Seriously, I don't expect anything from anyone."
I do. I usually expect kindness and at least the benefit of the doubt. At least from those that had behaved kindly in the past. Had I known how Victoria would have responded to my defense of the truth in the original article, I would have refrained from posting to her and simply posted it to noone in particular. I have been as shocked at your behavior as you seem to have been by mine.
Do I detect a note of *jealousy* perhaps?
Jealousy of what??
I guess, sometimes negative emotions take hold of people. I just hope that whatever their problems are, the outcome is good.
I whole heartedly agree!
Now have at it! I leave you a clear field.Once again, you made the lowest common assumption possible when you stated:
I'll take your silence as the inability to frame even a figleaf of an argument.
/juvenile behaviour (hopefully this close tag works for all the posters on this thread)
LOL, he seems to be having trouble making up his mind.
Yes, I know you expect kindness, but you are incapable of returning kindness if someone doesn't agree with you.
Is this another one of your lies Susan? Or are you so forgetful you can't remember what has been said on this same thread?
To: susangirl
Thank you for your post, Susan. I appreciate your different point of view and your civilized manner. However, we are in disagreement.
I respect your opinion and I just hope you respect mine.

When you get rid of your neurosis, you could flag me again. Until then, please don't waste my time. Someone here has to work.
BUT in the spirit of the season I will try to curb it, if possible, when in the vicinity of you or your friend's posts.
Deal??
If not, then I'll just have to try and make do with the friends I already have. They're saying they like my neurosis and would kind of hate to see it go.
Yes, I did, actually remember your kind words (which you highlighted for me in your last post).
Did you remember mine?
I'm afraid we must respectfully agree to disagree on this one. FRegards.

*Please note* As I said, my original replies stand and that would include the above, as well.
P.S.
I apologize for any typos in this post, but I had to write it in a hurry as I have only 5 minute spells of relief in my affliction and the clock is ticking...
Hopefully, my attempt to use /neurosis will cover me, though.
Did it work??
Civilized debate is a good thing. :-)
Absolutely, and I'd really love to have a discussion with you or anyone else if we respectfully agree to disagree as you so well point out. That's one of the purposes of FR and that's why I like so much to come here.
I apologize for my harsh remark. Please forgive me. I hope we meet again. No hard feelings. Merry Christmas, Susan to you and your love ones. God bless.
In the last weeks of her life Deb spoke again and again about the kind, brave people who'd written words of hope and encouragement after reading her story. She was sorry she didn't have the strength to thank everyone personally, but she had more hope at the moment of her death than she had had when she first told her story.
Thanks for the info, Susan. I'm glad Deb Pulaski was able to see that the country had a future and we the people are the hope of this great nation.
We certainly ARE! The nation is as strong as it's people.
"Happy New Year" 16 hours early. :-)
