Some of my favorites:
Benny Goodman -- Live at Carnegie Hall

Miles Davis -- Kind of Blue
Miles Davis -- The Birth of the Cool
Clifford Brown & Sarah Vaughan -- Sarah Vaughan
The Dave Brubeck Quartet -- Time Out
Louis Armstrong & Duke Elington -- The Great Summit
Louis Armstrong -- Plays W.C. Handy
Your mileage may vary.

I've been a professional musician for over 30 years. Ive played Vegas, the Grand Ole Opry, Austin City Limits, well....just about everywhere........I like all types of music, I've played most of it.......The problem is that rap and jazz are not musical. I just don't get it. I've tried, I just don't get it. The people who say they get it, are the same ones that can't clap to the music, or dance in time. They're music lovers, for sure, they just don't know why. ...oh, well...

I'm there with "Sketches of Spain", incredible work by both Davis and Evans.
I also like "Carmel" by Joe Sample, "Consummation" by Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, and all of the stuff Gato Barbieri recorded on the Flying Dutchman label.

Does anyone have Grachan Moncur III-Evolution or Some Other Stuff
I have both on vinyl. I love "Evolution", particularly the track "The Coaster". "Some Other Stuff" is pretty "out there". Can't wait till "Evolution" is re-released on cd. The vinyl copy I have is in pretty rough shape!

I bet it doesn't drive you slap crazy when your windshield wipers are 'almost' in sync with a song on the radio. It drives me up a wall. One of the reasons I can't handle jazz.

miles davis' tribute to jack johnson goes great with stop-and-go traffic.

Had a Mustang once where I could not play Queen's "We Are The Champions" when it rained because of that exact reason.

lol.....exactly....I attempt to adjust my speed on a bridge or interstate if the expansion joints don't keep time to the music......Sucks to have timing.....if I lost my timing, then I might get into jazz......naw, I'd have to lose my knowledge of music theory, and chord progressions.
