Does anyone know what the scanner readout is when maggie goes through the scanner at the beginning of every show?

"NRA 4 EVER", spelled something like that.

Ironically, The Simpsons is the most family- & church-friendly show on TV.

"Christian" is definitely not what I think of when Lisa is on the screen.

I've always felt that her 'Christianity' was exceedingly nominal. It was really a pose (on the part of the writers, that is) for criticizing an institution from within, the TV sitcom equivalent of an FR 'disruptor.'

Meanwhile, out here in real life, no Christian church is running ad banners beneath the pastor's sermon.

It says "847.68". That is supposedly the average cost to raise a baby for a month.

Is (was) she really supposed to be a Christian on the show? If so, I never knew that. Again -- I only ever watched it a few times, but I just thought she was supposed to be the typical little brainwashed public-school socialist, who gets all the answers "right," according to what her teachers had programmed into her.

One of my favorite Simpson moment is Lisa's quoting Pablo Neruda during the Bart Sells His Soul episode.

(Well that and Bart's boat going round in circles ... been there, done that.)

Better late than never, I remembered this thread and ran across this website while looking for a picture...

Religion on the Simpsons it appears to be a comprehensive list of every reference to religion on The Simpsons.

I haven't gone through all of the items to cite any instances of sacrilege (if they exist). I'm just posting this as a resource for others to defend either position of the argument...
