Yes, I appreciate the cross marketing theory, which may be why the Dodgers are losing a bunch because Fox isn't paying enough for the TV rights. But you can't traffic in NOL's anymore. Those days are gone.

I've heard of one pending big announcement, something about Jason Giambi signing with the Yankees, but that's not really related to the subject at hand.

Sounds like good news though..

Just think if I bought each of the kids another hot dog and coke, Baseball could have broke even.

Here are the Yankees' numbers. Go to your team's web page to see how they did:

                    Operating expenses: $201,349
       Contribution to revenue sharing: $26,540
Operating income after revenue sharing: $14,319
* dollars in thousands

Bud Selig has been awful as commissioner. I can't think of one thing he's done to help the game during his tenure. Only about five or six teams can afford to get good players now and what does he propose? Getting rid of two of them. The owners should have thrown him out, not re-elected him.

Firstly, ANY hearing involving John Conyers will stink to high heaven...

Secondly, everyone with an IQ over 32 knows MLB books are complete BS.

Thirdly, you're right -- the Yankees only "made" $8.2 million?? Who was in charge of these books -- Marion Berry??

A report Selig will unveil will also claim that Major League Baseball lost more than a half-billion dollars last season.

Uh huh. And these geniuses just unanaimously re-elected Bud Lite as commissioner because they like his hair?

What board of directors would keep a CEO on board who lost half a billion dollars of the company's money? Just curious.

Exactly. And how in the world are they going to contract, and make these $250 million payouts, if they're supposedly losing so much money?

We're on the same wavelength, sir. It's not even a good lie -- which means that Selig would have made a terrific Clinton press secretary.

Sounds to me like maybe the IRS should check into MLB's books. They might find a lot of tax money. There's a lot of creative financing going on here.

The reason the Demos are in front on this issue goes right to the top. The Texas Rangers stand to benefit from this fiasco. They will move into the AL Central if the Twins are gassed. Selig then proposes to move Arizona, the NL (gag) champion into the AL to add a team to the AL West.

Plus Selig is trying to spare the Florida franchises as a favor to Jeb in his re-election battle. This thing sucks.
