Because I hold Juan Miguel accountable for his words asking for the return of his son

Stated will .. if something is not your will, then dont say it. I realize this sounds harsh because I can say my will and not face Castro's punishment, but alas, life is not fair

Because I hold Juan Miguel accountable for his words asking for the return of his sonSo it doesn't bother you a whit that Juan may have wanted Elian to escape to the United States but Castro was possibly threatening him to get Elian back or else...

I realize this sounds harsh because I can say my will and not face Castro's punishment, but alas, life is not fairSo once again, for someone who rants about the importance of the will of parents, you really don't care about determining that will in the face of a tyrant. Telling. I won't bother responding any more, because it's impossible to hold a fair debate with someone who harbors such a tremendous contradiction...

I find that possibility unfortunate, but no it doesnt bother me .... that is Juan Miguel's problem. Why do I feel this way? Because, I realize that if I do make it MY fight for the boy to be in the US, then at some point, I have to say that I am in authority to decide that Juan Miguerl's decisions may not be his own and to decide who and what are good and bad. I would never sanction anyone doing this to me, and the only way to avoid hypocrasy is to say in return I would never have the right to do this to anyone.

You are pro abortion!
To: dirtboy
I see no contradiction in holding that a man's words be taken as his will. If they werent his will he could have chosen not to speak them
You are consistant in taking the view that the nobility of your intent, the fact that you are fighting for good, that these things give you sanction to be involved in choices and decisions that do not bear upon you. I hold that you are not justified in your position .... this is all. The rest of it is name-calling and claiming I am one of the "bad" guys. Get over it

Negative, I am pro-CHOICE. I myself would choose abortion only in the case of pregnancy from rape, and would ADVOCATE this to others as well. But I can not CHOOSE for them

Not bad. Modestly humerous, in fact But speak up,stand straight, and be ASSERTIVE when you deliver the punch line. Go practice in front of the mirror some more

To borrow from durtboy's arguements. Are you SURE my mother had choice? Are you sure Castro's goons didnt force her not to abort me? After all, since I disagree with you, I must be evil, right?
To: thusevertotyrants
My mother who had 12 children would tell you the same thing...practice murder--abortion on your self smart guy!
To: f.Christian
Nah, I have too much fun annoying you

To borrow from durtboy's arguements. Are you SURE my mother had choice? Are you sure Castro's goons didnt force her not to abort me?Unless your mom lived in Cuba, that is extremely lame. But I expect as much from someone who states that parental rights are absolute but has no desire to find out a parent's true intentions when that parent is under the thumb of a tyrannical dictator. You just don't want to go down that road because it destroys your position - and someone who refuses to face their contradictions is someone with weak opinions and views - your beliefs should be able to withstand the facts...

Regardless of whether one believes that Janet Reno did the right thing or not, it is entirely possible that had Reno not sent in the stormtrooper to take Elian, Florida might have gone to Gore in the Presidential election.
The end of the Elian Gonzales story has not yet been written, so while for some (but not me), Elian's ending up back in Cuba may seem to have been a travesty, it may only turn out in the end to have been a temporary setback.

I read some of your posts in the OJ thread. I gotta tell ya, few sling around the nasty insults the way you do. But anyway ....... My OPINION is that OJ was guilty, I think he butchered those two people in cold blood. Having said that, and noting that I have NOT made thesis style research on the evidance and the trial, from what I have heard, I would have to say that were I on the jury I could not have voted to convict him on the evidance I had seen.
It's so clear where the flaw in all your thinking is, you allow your emotions and your gut feelings to take away your impartiality. Once your are conviced you are right, it';s the end of the story for you
You would have fit in well with Jim Garrison's staff in New Orleans
