I proudly donated this quarter. Is there a list of contributions by state?

This is repost of a post by BadJoe and my replies on another thread. This shows what a winner and wizard we have with BadJoe. It, also, is more proof how important monthly donors are to keeping the Free Republic Life Form viable.

Joe's comments are in italics, and my response to each paragraph is below in non italics!

BadJoe posted, "And you can look at it this way. This Freepathon when we hit 69% I added 16,500 in monthlies to take us to 90% and started a count down flurry that wrapped us up in a hurry.""

When you posted yesterday, how quick this Freepathon would be over, I felt that you would be adding in the monthlies to get us close to the goal! It really started a positive flurry or feeding frenzy. I was gone for about 4 hours, and boom, we were over the goal when I returned to Free Republic. That was really great, Joe! It is still working!

"Next time, if the goal is the same amount, I can add a kicker of $21,000 at the 64% mark to start the countdown, there by shortening the time to complete the Freepathon."

Hopefully, you will have $30-40000+ in pledged monthlies to make your job even faster and easier by the next Freepathon!

"Now, I just have to convince JimRob to grant the one week amnesty to the naysayers a week before we start. : )

Yeah maybe Carol and some of the regular hate Free Republic posters/replies can post their own versions to fire up the good people of Free Republic. It sure worked this last time. Everytime they post their hatred of the good Freepers, it backfires tremendously. Reminds of an idiot trying to use a flame thrower in a wind tunnel against the wind flow on high! This probably why at the end of their bs posts, they end with "Go ahead and flame me!" A self fulling prophecy then takes place!

"That will, for sure get us off and running in fine fashion AGAIN !! : )"

One of the basic concepts of success, "If it works successfully, don't throw it away. Keep using it until it doesn't work!"

Joe, thanks for your hard work and great skills in these successful Freepathons!

Ed Reform posted this great suggestion on another thread:

" To: Grampa Dave; BADJOE; WIMom

"When family members ask me what I'd like for Christmas this year, I'm going to tell them "a donation to Free Republic in my screen name!"

What a great suggestion by EdReform!!!!!

Is there any way we can make it simple to do for our friends and family members?

What a great Christmas present for us and for Free Republic, a donation to Free Republic!

The timing is perfect!

Is it my imagination, or did this fundraiser get to goal faster than any I've ever seen before?

I have wondered the same thing -- how did we do time wise on this one?

Also, did the horizontal thermometer contribute heavily to the shortened time span, if indeed the length of time to receive pledges and pony up the dough was shorter? I really liked the thermometer, by the way.

It would be great if John left the meter running until 12/31/01. Don't stop at 110%. I know that a lot of people will be donating after they get past Christmas shopping and doing their budgets for 2002.

Also, Ed Reform's suggestion about Freepers having friends/relatives donate to Free Republic is a great suggestion. It could be rather simple to do! I'm open to suggestions if it is okay with Jim/John! I would rather have a donation to Free Republic than someone buying me another damn star in the solar system!

lol. want to trade one for the S&W hat my daughter gave me last Christmas?

these are good ideas. you have a point about getting over the financial wrath of the holidays
and setting next years budget.
it usually becomes clear around the end of january for us, when we can
more fully guage the impending doom of april 15.

I rather have the damn star than a S&W cap!

Re budgeting, I start after Christmas and have it nailed down by 10 Jan before the new round of bill paying.

It is a lot simpler now that I am retired and get social security. My wife gets her raises in August.

I started paying my taxes on a quarterly basis after retirement when I worked as an independent consultant. That way I get to invest the money for 3 months before I have to pay the tax suckers.

We get gang banged here in California in Dec/Jan. Half of our property tax bills is due Dec 10, then comes Christmas, then our estimated taxes are due 15 January! Bah Humbug!

you got me thinking with that. our property taxes were due about a month ago.
the services they provide - schooling, library, sheriff, garbage collection, snow removal,
mosquito abatement, flood control, etc. etc. ...
are moderately reasonable , and are fairly well managed projects.

i go berserk when i think about the irs sucking away my sustenance to pay for pornographic
"art" funding, occupation by the communist feral "education" consortium,
aaaaaarrgh... you know the drill.

i'd better stop while i'm ahead, or i'll find myself reading CHIEF's old threads
for the rest of the day, and i have honey-do's to be working on.

on the up side, i just blasted my paycheck on presents this morning, and i'm done. yipeee.
