I found myself dashing back into the dining room to get a menu for him to sign.

..Ahem...The President and I drink the same beer. O'doul's is great for us teetotalers. The amber is the best variety. It didn't do too badly in Consumer Reports taste test either.

What a wonderful read! I'm still stunned trying to really believe this came from Salon (are they still in business??). I can just imagine some of the personal tales of events with Clinton...

I think it was Rush who commented on a true way to measure the character of a man: how he treats those who can’t do anything for him. This story is a clear example of Bush’s character; he shows true humility and is the servant of us all, just like his most admired person, Jesus Christ.

Bush’s humility makes him the best-qualified person to lead this country, I pray the masses will see and understand this.

Thank you for the posting of this. I watched Bush on James Robinson's "Life Today" (www.lifetoday.org) the year before he was elected. It was then I was convinced he will become the greatest President we have had, at least in my lifetime.

He hasn't disappointed.

Thanks again for the post.

I kept waiting and wondering, looking for the beginning of the missing barf alert, after all what good can come out of Salon, but the gagging moment never came and I was forced to admit that I had read something good and it came from Salon. Bump

Think Clinton would have admitted to not knowing a quotation?

Not only that, a "president Gore" would have looked at the bust of Churchill and not known who it was.

I like a guy who doesn't put on airs and can ask for a beer. Yes, I'm surprised Salon bothered to explain that it was non-alcoholic, much as they'd rather paint GWB as a drunk, but that this story ran at all is amazing. I'm glad even the left can see that he's not a phony and not the lying sack of excrement his predecessor was.

Thanks for the ping, Holly - what a great story about our president.

I suppose that the Democrats would complain that he isn't acting presidential enough.

I put a bust of Churchill in the Oval Office, not because of that quote -- because I didn't know it ...
Think Clinton would have admitted to not knowing a quotation?

No he would not. But would Gore recognize a bust of Churchhill? ;^)
