Yeah, but we could really use a contraption like this at my job...three large warehouse-type bldgs - this could save some wear & tear on my little tootsies!!
To: Timm
Not only does it have no brakes, but also no engine, no throttle, no gearshift, and no steering wheel. And it can carry the average rider for a full day, nonstop, on only five cents' worth of electricity.I have a big problem believing with the bold thingies.

this massiveabout 20 pounds, right.

Sigh. Too true, but the car looks wild(check the net, blueovalnews.com is a good start) and 50 or 60 ponies is easy to pull from this motor. They're also talking about a 400-H.P. supercharged Cobra called the "Terminator" as Ford's answer to the 'Vette. Once again, driving any of these examples of American Spirit (preferably with open headers) past a "seg-gay" at redline would be sheer patriotic bliss.

"
Cities need cars like fish need bicycles"
Kamen's next great invention...
Cities without rain, sleet, high wind or snow.
Or perhaps a big bio dome to cover all our cities.
No doubt this technology is pretty smooth and will be exploited to it's max by the US Military and others but I dont see it changing the cityskape quite yet.

your tootsies might like IT, but your heart needs some excersise.

a 400-H.P. supercharged Cobra called the "Terminator" Now that perked the old Cajun's ears up ;^)

This is idiotic. This is a snow job.I'm not sure where you got your engineering degree, but I have a suggestion. If you don't want one, DON'T BUY ONE!!

And this is superior to a golf cart because???.....

I'm gonna hop on my 3000 dollar scooter and ride to workAnd how do you get into work, if you can't walk more than a few steps? How about getting onto your 300 dollar walking machine and going through the lot.

"This guy is like the guys who invent all the perpetual motion machines that never work." Not so. Do some research on this guy. He's a brilliant inventor with several well-proven inventions to his name, going all the way back to the 1970s.

Ford sounds serious about both. There's also talk about a special edition Boss 302 in '03. Baisically, the idea at Ford is to keep the standard models (base, GT, and Cobra) and introduce one "special" per year (witness this year's "BULLITT" edition). With both Firebird and Camaro now dead, they've a lot of gearhead market to play with.

Recession world wide is a great time to unviel this. NOT! You mean like the recession in 1980 when they unveiled the PC? Yeah, you're right, what a bust that thing was!!

And how do you get into work, if you can't walk more than a few steps? LOL! I agree! The segway seems like one more thing Americans can use to avoid any physical activity and get even fatter, if possible!

I am skeptical that a 20 pound scooter can be fall-proof with a wriggling 200 pound person aboard. If the person is riding it like a bicycle that's one thing. If the person is simply expecting the scooter to stay upright No Matter What (perhaps leaning over the side to take pictures, etc.) then some considerable counterweight would be needed.
The comment in the article that getting hit by the scooter would be like getting hit by a pedestrian, sounds silly. Suppose it is only 20 lb. Imagine getting hit by a pedestrian on skates. Even moving at walking speeds, that is going to be a significant impact.

Trust me. You'll never see the segway (sic) for those prices then, if it's even still available.I trust you, but still can't see a reason why this thing's prices wouldn't behave the way all high tech mass marketed gadgets prices do.
To: Post Toasties
Wonder what the reason is for the phonetic spelling of 'segue'? 'Cause if they called Segue, most Americans would call it the "Sea-Goo".
To: The Cajun
I have a big problem believing with the bold thingies.I understand what you mean, but the lack of an engine comes from the fact that it is electric powered. The other stuff sounds like they may have a real improvement in batteries. If so, this would mean really big bucks.
