Have you ever considered applying to some foundations for grants? That might be a way to obtain some operating money. As the preeminent site devoted to conservative news and discussion, I have to think that some organization would be interested in sponsoring FR.

Thanks for your explanation. I've never thought of it on a monthly basis but, after reading your explanation, I'm going to do a monthly donation. Instead of four big donations, I'll just do a monthly donation for MORE!

If that last thread didn't show people what Free Republic IS are compared to what it MIGHT be if the AFers are allowed to have their way with us, nothing EVER will!

Oops, I meant monthlies which is the only way to go imo. Btw, my guess is that if we continue to gain monthlies over the next few freepathons at the pace we have in the past all of the funding issues will go away. I don't know the numbers but I bet we are up to 20% pre-funded as we speak.

Can't do it. Charging a fee would make it a commercial site. Voluntary donations are the only way we can help pay the bills here while staying clean with the fair-use laws.
