Use just a tiny bit of commonsense and courtesy when you communicate with people and you would have a whole lot less trouble being accepted in polite society. I've seen you be as rude as anyone, when the spirit moves. In fact, you just did it. The difference is, you'll never get banned for it.
The occasional rhetorical nastiness is perfectly okay by me - sometimes what the stew really needs is a pinch of salt - but let's not treat ourselves to a hypocrisy party, okay?
To: Ratatoskr
An occasional pinch of salt is ok when appropriate. Tossing in an entire bottle of cayenne is not. Thanks

God blessed us with Jim Robinson and his wondrous gift of the FreeRepublic.
Long May She Live as the valient voice of Liberty so that all the world can read and see Freedom Brightly Shining!
Hiya Harpo11.
I agree, and that picture is beautiful too.

What is Guilderthink?
To: the_tisha_girl
I have no clue, do you?
To: Ratatoskr
The difference is, you'll never get banned for it.Well, I think you finally got it. Did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?
Move to the head of the class -- or the door, whichever comes first.

I'd like to echo this question. I remember during the kidnapping of Elian, people called the agents cowards because they hide behind masks. Why are the identities of the moderators a secret. They have a lot of power yet the posters don't even have the right to face their accusers. It feels a little spooky now, knowing they are watching every word and they can get anyone banned without a hearing. I mean, doesn't that even sound wrong?
And NO, I have never been banned, I've just lurked.

Move to the head of the class -- or the door, whichever comes first. Funny, the owner didn't show me the door in his reply. Aren't you being a little presumptuous?

I want to be held accountable just like everyone else to the original posting rules I first signed up for -- no racism,[1] no personal attacks (provided of course, that the mere expression of a differing opinion is not regarded as a personal attack),[2] no spam,[3] etc 1. You are a racist.
2. You assault other posters with lies.
3. You spam the place with more IDs than exsquirrel.
Take RightOnline's advise...see a therapist about your rate of self-absorbtion...you are reaching the critical level and will only become anti-matter instead of no matter.
Hoppa dat hepps ya heeps.
To: Ratatoskr
I'm not being presumptuous at all; I'm just wondering why you would have your shorts in a wad about a place you don't seem to like very much.
To: the_tisha_girl
the posters don't even have the right to face their accusersAccusers? You act like we're holding firing squad drills here.

I'm just wondering why you would have your shorts in a wad about a place you don't seem to like very much. You kidding? I love Free Republic.
Oh, wait. You can tell the difference between the forum and the management, I suppose? Or are you one of those who chews out the waitress when your steak is overdone?
To: BRL
a sad bump...
To: Ratatoskr
No, I'm one of the people who, if I get a bad steak once, I will go back; but if I get what I think is a bad steak (*wink wink*) twice, then maybe I think about getting my steak somewhere else from now on.
To: Ratatoskr
The occasional rhetorical nastiness is perfectly okay by me -
Not that it matters what is OK to you, since you don't own the site. that IS what it is about- a site owner being able to run his own site as he pleases.
All the whiners on here are like hearing city people trying to sue a farmer because he wouldn't paint his barn red.
sometimes what the stew really needs is a pinch of salt -
Maybe, but put your salt in your own soupbowl instead of trying to put it in the chef's. Geocities offers free web sites and you can put your soupbowl there, with as much salt as you need.
but let's not treat ourselves to a hypocrisy party, okay?
Hypocrisy is seeing people trying to make themselves co-owners of another man's property, against his will, and then still claim to be 'conservatives' looking out for 'people's rights.'
When someone asks you to leave their property, you leave, or if you want to return, you apologize and ask to be readmitted. If you don't think you did wrong, and don't apologize, that's your choice... just leave. You don't demand concessions from him, nor expect any, because it is his property to do with as he pleases, and he can invite or disinvite anyone he wants to, for any reason, at any time.

The last line you wrote is one of the more frightening things I have read lately.
To: Howlin
So what do you do when you get a consistently fantastic steak at an unbeatable price but the waitresses are invariably rude and incompetent?
Me, I keep going back, but I don't tip. And I fill out those "Tell Us What You Think" cards at every opporunity.
Like this one. Voilà.
To: Ratatoskr
Why don't you do what the other over 95 percent of us do here -- get along?
