Damn I wish America had a "Loser Pays Law". You don't? Seriously?
At the very least here, a frivolous litigant like this would have to pay the court costs of the defence .. which can be substantial.

Just imagine the drop in the number of frivolous lawsuits if the loser had to pay the other's expenses. Litigation is just getting out of hand and something needs to be done about it.

"I want to know what the heck is the library doing with a cat?"Many libraries keep cats for rodent control because mice and rats love to chew on paper.

L.C.- Fiesty cat who was adopted by workers at the Escondido, California city library, who lived at the library and served as the official greeter, and who jumped into the national spotlight in 1999 when the owner of a guide dog sued the city for $1.5 million when L.C. attacked his dog during a library visit (no harm was done to him or his dog and the lawsuit is still unsettled), died Oct. 4 or 5 at a private home in Escondido at age 11.

It's a long standing tradition for libraries to have a cat. My college library has one.
Apparently it is a tradition that started as a way to keep rodents out that chew on the books and damage them.

The fact that the judge did not throw this out as soon as he saw it is a sad commentary on the state of the judicial system in this country.

I think it has something to do with cats and bookstores.
