According to the lawsuit, Espinosa suffers from numerous disabilities, including decreased lung function, permanent back disability, chronic pain syndrome, borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder and panic disorder.

... as well as chronic stupidity.

Dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria.

It is obvious that this left wing former member of the press had a real pussy for a dog!

We had a German Shorthaired Pointer for about 17 years. She never attacked any cats or other dogs until they attacked her on our property!

She weighed 90 pounds. If a cat attacked her, it was over for the cat in a few seconds. The carcass was thrown into our trash container. She was a real dog, not a pussy dog!

Espinosa, a former courts reporter for the North County Times, filed the claim himself after four lawyers declined to do it ...

Ahhhhh... That explains it a LOT better. It's good to have Freepers who can fill us in on those little, nagging details that the writer of the original story somehow failed to include.

Thanks mucho from all of us.

I bet you a million bucks this guy has filed many, many other lawsuits just like this. These people live on what they get as "go away" money from filing suits like this. I'd love to see HIS legal history.

"borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder and panic disorder."

Prerequisites for a reporter.

That surely explains it. He knows he can get "nuisance money" to make the suit go away.

There's a woman in my area who has a dog who has been trained to help her with her physical disabilities. When this lady stands or walks, she sometimes loses her balance and the dog is trained to walk closely by her and use his body to keep her from falling. I guess there are actual programs for this (I forget the name for this). These animals are in the same catagory as seeing eye dogs.

LOL, now that you mention it, hysteria and doomsaying are common features of news reporting.

What is "borderline personality disorder?" Borderline what? I've heard of neurotic panic attacks and clinical depression, but on to what is his personality bordering?

To me, he sounds like one of these people who try to live off of filing civil lawsuits and working the public health system. What is a depression dog? If it's not for his mental ailments, then how does his dog help him breathe? Does it pick stuff up for him, so he doesn't have to bend over?

Nope not a seeing-eye dog. It's a depression dog.

That several attorneys turned him down is significant. When I was legal counsel to the circuit clerk, I just loved dealing with pro se nutballs like this guy. (/sarcasm)

I hope the judge is inclined to impose sanctions for the filing of a frivolous lawsuit.
