Rummy: I will let you know when I want to talk about SNL.... I saw that last night on Fox, at the end of Special Edition. Must have laughed for five minutes.

And he's cute, too.

I love him too, but the first person I ever heard use the alligator quote in a political context was RWR when discussing budget the role of the federal government.

From yesterday's briefing:
Q: Mr. Secretary, over the weekend there were some Northern Alliance people -- (inaudible) -- Pakistan who were suggesting that if Mullah Mohammed Omar were captured, that he might end up being freed. Would you -- what will be your reaction, if that should ever happen?
Rumsfeld: Well, you know, there are so many people in the world who can opine on these things. Some are on the ground, some aren't. And anyone can have an opinion about anything. I can't imagine why he would be freed, or by whom. Nor can I imagine that he'll end up being captured. From everything I've read about him, he's a rather determined, dead-ender type -- (laughter) -- and -- to coin a phrase. And I just -- you know, it could happen, he could be captured. Everyone has an opportunity to surrender. Nobody wants to kill somebody who's surrendering. But he just doesn't feel to me like the surrendering type. (laughter)

RUMMY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

I hope Rumsfeld's treatment of the press will raise their standards. Maybe they'll all start asking better questions to avoid being skewered by Rumsfeld. Maybe they'll start trying to come up with the best question to stump him. Maybe all other public figures will start to learn from Rumsfeld; that they can manipulate the press in to asking better questions by refusing to answer or criticizing the stupid questions.

Saw a reporter on Fox over the weekend, who said he'd had a chance to talk to Rummy post-SNL.
According to the reporter (and I must paraphrase)
Rummy (with a grin): Am I really that mean?
Reporter: Do we really ask that many stupid questions?
Rummy: Wellllll... sometimes.
I cracked up.

Maybe they'll start trying to come up with the best question to stump him Don't forget who were talking about.
These are the same folks who, when the last President said it all "depended on the meaning of 'is'," started going "oh, wow, how brilliant, how insightful," etc.
I'm not holding my breath.
