The only hope left is that the government will realize that we are not the problem nor are we the enemy. Who is it, if not "we," who might prevent our "leaders" from doing any damn thing they please to or for anyone they please?
Hope has nothing to do with government realizations, but the response of the people to government actions.

Walter Karp could open a few eyes -- at least any that haven't been inadvertently super-glued shut while making pom-poms.

It is anti-American to bury ones head in the sand. It's about time to replace the bald eagle with an ostrich -- so much more accurately representative of our national character.

"I don't see us still fighting this war in 10 years." The real war against terrorism will take, IMHO, 5-15 years. The war in Afghanistan is window-dressing.
The real war will be fought in the shadows, by spies and assassins. The typical battle will be one guy stepping out of a shadowed corner and placing a bullet in the brain of another guy.
It will take many years; it will not be easy--and it is us or them.

What we are living in is a uniquely American version of the Fall of the Roman Empire. Agree, excellet way to put it.

"This is anti-American garbage!"No......TRUE 'anti-American' garbage is the very idea that everyone MUST follow the edicts from D.C.

The answer, of course, is to immediately legalize dope and kiddie porn, disestablish the traditional American family and let gay gay and bestial marriages blossom forth in all their splendor, eliminate international borders and allow terrorists and their blessing packets of anthrax free passage.
That's the ticket. That's what we need to do to restore the splendor that once was America's.

Oh. Well, I don't think that America will follow through all the way. Maybe it's too big a job even if we had a national will to do it. If 9/11 can't convince everybody, I don't think anything will. Though I don't doubt that terrorists will try their best to get us all against them.

Ahhhhhh....Kevin.
I have found in life that NO ONE fights against alcohol use as much....as a former drunk.
Since you rant and rave SO MUCH about homosexuality....beastiality...drugs........makes me wonder if you're a reformed homosexual or something.
The SUBJECT of the article is are we going to let the "Ideal" of America die in our mad quest for safety.
NOT...about you having weird relations with some goat.

America may fall, but good people like us will be their at her side to build her up all over, and hopefully we will do it right this time.

Can't you face the fact that our government is falable? It has acted like a dictatorship to the world for years, and that does not reflect american values. I understand that you need to get in the face of the enemy to prevent it from growing, but at the same time you can't abandon your enimies victims when you think your needs have been met.

I stop reading this piece of crap when the author compared Nazi government to American government. Maybe he can explain this to my grandfather, a survivor of the camps, how it was just two facist systems fighting each other.

If the ballot box is not the answer, what is? War? If so, volunteers would be few and thin-most people are rather content with theway things are going, and some politicians may be evil but they're not completely stupid. They realize that as long as the masses are well fed and entertained, they will not consider a long and costly revolt.
