Are Bush and Putin good ol' boys?

was it Mere Christianity that you read?

OF COURSE it was! : )

Having loved "The Chronicles of Narnia" as a child, I one day felt like smartening myself up
and reading a "real" book. I remembered I had heard that he had written "grown-up" books as well,
and figured maybe I'd like them since I'd loved those other books in my youth.

In my research I read he was a "Christian" writer. I wasn't sure I knew what that meant, but ended up getting
The Screwtape Letters (I was thinking it was something more like, "The Andromeda Strain"!)

I was amazed at what it was really about and how much fun it was, and what it had to say.
I may have bought Mere Christianity at the same time. It was an amazing wonderful clarifying experience to read it.
And of course my personal story continues from there...

C.S. really reaches me because of the way he imparts humor within the truths he writes. His communication is just my style.

The only books I've had trouble reading of his so far are the third book in the Sci Fi trilogy
(I swear it seems like it was written by a different person) and I think Miracles and/or The Problem With Pain.

I love all his other stuff esp. "The Great Divorce" (which also surprised me with its content vs. the title!)

I could have written these words myself! I love Lewis' style, with the exception of the Space Trilogy. A friend recommended them highly to me, but I'm not really a Sci Fi fan, and I didn't care for them.

I wonder how many other people are in God's Kingdom because of the wisdom and clarity of C.S. Lewis? What a gift he had!!

Very much so. I was explaining to my son today about the USSR and the KGB. He was asking me if I thought Putin could be trusted. I told him that I think Putin is a pragmatist, and that will be the predictor of his actions, and that Putin recognizes he can get his country on the road to better days by working with us. And I explained Ronald Reagan to him--"Trust, but verify."

Only God knows what's really in this man's heart, but President Bush has seen something good in Putin, and I choose to believe it's real.

You have said it all and thank you. We know what is in President Bush's heart and it is because he has asked the LORD JESUS CHRIST into his heart. Because of this we know that we are responsible to plant the seed. That is exactly what he is doing.
