Well, the "Party of Small Government" has done it again. I wonder of the GOP ever tires of castrating itself.

"It's a victory for both sides" insisted Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott, R-Miss.

Izzatso, Senator Lost? Three guesses which party gets the bigger benefit of fatter campaign coffers from the new claque of federal, unionised workers. Hint: They have the wrong symbol on the voting booth ballot - how in good conscience can they use an eagle when they so consistently behave and legislate like turkeys?

First they lie about the Airbus crash, and now they federalize the airports ????
I'm sorry Mr. President. You just lost a lot of points.
Now you have to start all over again to gain my trust. You have 3 years.
Who is going to be Bushs' republican opponant in 2004?
Nobody likes to be lied to, nor do they like a new very expensive tax payer federal slap in the face!

It's a bloody trade off.
The Democraps agree to keep their mouth shut about the Airbus crash, and the Republicans give them their additional federal employee votes!!!
This is a scam.

Pathetic. . .maybe they will find some spine in the next few weeks before this is cast in stone.

Not like they did not have it on GOOD authority, that this plan does not work well; Europe has 'been there. . .done that'. But apparently, 'security' is fair game to play politics with.

Wish Benjamin Netanyahu were head of the Republican's. . .could he just give them a crash coarse on being 'right'?

There has been, NO TIME like the present time; for Republican's to just stand up to the Dems and tell them where to put it; and have plenty of backup for doing such. But no; you would think we already lost the war and now felt compelled to 'just go with the flow'.

Please Republican's; get some real hormones. America neds you. . .

How much more does it take to convince you that we don't have two parties in Congress?
Opps, I forgot about Ron Paul, Butch Otter, Bob Smoth, and Bob Barr.

Another entry on the (long) list of why we Libertarians will continue to be Libertarians. Republicans sell out at the slightest hint of conflict - they do not give a damn about limited government or their so-called "principles". They only care about their own self-aggrandizement.

Congressional Republicans are pussies, and The Great Leader Bush hasn't even threatened a veto to fight for a small restriction on government growth.

Thanks a hell of a lot for nothing, Republicans. I vote Libertarian for a reason.

Republicans said federalization would expand the federal bureaucracy without any increased security benefits. They pointed to the incompetence of such federal agencies as the Immigration and Naturalization Service and FBI, noted that it would be much more difficult to fire government employees for incompetence, and said the Democrats wanted to add to their core of voters by increasing the government workforce.

-vs-

Democrats and the Senate said that only federal law enforcement officers can protect airports.

When with an arguement that strong...how could they have lost!

For some reason, I just spontaneously remembered the scene in "The Andromeda Strain" where the scientists are looking at a magnified section of the virus on the TV screen, when, suddenly, it seems to make a little "bump" and then it expands.

Just like the Federal Government.

"For us it's a big victory because you're talking about five airports in the whole country not being federalized," the aide said. "Security companies may not be able to survive on only five airports."

This should be carved in stone on a monument someplace. It PERFECTLY reflects Dim thinking. A private business failing is a GOOD thing in their eyes. This says it all.

They would be allowed to unionize but not to strike, he said. All employees would have to be U.S. citizens.

WE all know this won't last a year. Leftist Dim lawyers are already firing up the copy machines for the discrimination lawsuits even as I type these words. BOTH Dim and semi-Dim (Republican) politicians from states with heavy union voter bases are already preparing bills to change this in Congress. Bills that will be QUIETLY passed without comment or discussion in a year or so. The fix is already in.

The question is if this is all so apparant to US,why can't the politicians see it? The answer is,"They can." They just want to pull the old bait and switch on us again, knowing that Joe Sixpack has the attention span of a fuit fly,and that all this will be forgotten about by the time the changes are made.

Forgive me if I repeat something someone else has said...but why don't we federalize fire marshalls (since bad smoke detectors and unsafe conditions cost many American lives) and janitors (sanitation is so important to public health) and Dairy Queen cashiers (to ensure that every Peanut Buster Parfait is made to specs...)...
