That's a thought. We should start a new site: www.bonsaikids.com!

Moral. Don't buy a gun safe from Sears. If you can open it in ten minutes with a crowbar it isn't "safe".

Let's see. A boy is in a completely dark gun safe that he's just been pushed into seconds before the door is shut. He's afraid, panicking even. He's unfamiliar with the safe and you expect him to be able to find and then operate a knob/lever/whatever. Uh, huh. Federal regulations are definitely a good idea....

That is why the Federal government must mandate that all safes have lights, telephones, adaquate food and water, and a reasonable collection of Nintendo games. There should be front and side airbags in case the safe tips over and some provision for a seat belt.

Children playing in a house that has a gun safe should be encouraged to wear a helmet, elbow and knee pads, and to always wash their hands thoroughly. Guns should be stored outside the safe in case they are needed to shoot the locking mechanism in order to free the child.

I'm very early in the process. I'm not dealing with anyone who can just wander away . . . yet.

I know I would've caught hell from my folks if I pulled this on my little brother when I was 15 and he was 9.

My mom wouldn't have blamed a store for displaying merchandise - she would've blamed me for not acting my age and for bullying my little brother.

If 15 year old Adam Mulvihill were my son he still wouldn't be able to sit down tonight.

I'm amazed that the store did not have the correct combination for that safe.

That's all part of the plan. That way, your guns are locked away and unusable. If you call the store, you'll get, 'Sorry, sir, the computer says that combination matches the serial number for that safe. Therefore, it cannot be the wrong combination...'

Sounds like normal Sears employee's. They don't know how to open a lock, do not remeber to dial "9" to get an outside line, forget security is ext. 262.
Yes I worked there for a few years. The only good thing I got from there was my wife.

James Mulvehill thanked those who pitched in to help force the safe open, but both he and his wife were critical of Sears. "People shouldn't have this kind of access," said a shaken Stephanie Mulvehill. "They should be kept locked." She suggested stores keep safes that are on display closed and locked, opening them only on a customer's request.

"What if a couple of kids, thinking they're playing a joke, put tape over another kid's mouth and toss him in a safe?" he said. "He's done."

That's why children have parents. Not his and hew fault, surely... Just wait --- he will sue Sears. The corporate shakedown has reached its perfection under Jesse Jackson; there's much experience and plenty of lawyers. The store clerks are properly intimidated already:

A man who identified himself as one of several Sears managers who assisted with the incident declined comment.

"I'm amazed that the store did not have the correct combination for that safe."

Considering the caliber of Sears employees, I'm not.

But for the record, Adam needs an ass kicking !!!

If someone is dumb enough to get stuck in an airtight safe, there ought to be a mandatory waiting period...

Adam does need a thumping, and then he should be made to pay for the gun safe and the crowbars. You know the old saying, You break it you buy it.
