As I said, Christians who believe the Bible are an unpopular lot today.

Only in the North from what I've seen. Virtually everyone where I've lived in the South knows at least the core of the Bible, whereas I've met Northerners who didn't know that David slew Goliath.

but then again hatred and bigotry were bound to win out in the end one way or another.

Only a temporary victory. I've read the last chapter of the Bible. God wins.

If they speak in accordance with the Word they may well find themselves being called "unpatriotic" and "judgmental.". In fact, given that the new orthodoxy demands of us the confession "Everyone is God's child" over against such clear biblical teaching as John 1:12

I think this point is very important. Expect this new "Amercianized" version of God to be the only "publically" accepted version of God from now on. Anyone who rejects this warped view of God and preaches the Bible will be compared to the Taliban. Its already happened, and it will get worse in the comming months.

The left's version of God is just like the parent who doesn't know how to parent, and is so indulgent he raises dysfunctional, selfish monsters.

Probably a lot of truth in this article, but I also recall Sales of Bibles going up...if more people are really in the Word remember His Word does not come back void. I for one am encouraged.

nor is there any such thing as a Christianity that stands side by side with Islam, or Judaism, or Buddhism, and says, "We worship one God under many names."

This man goes on to quote the Old Testament, but denies that Jews worship the same God he does?

I agree and I do believe the American Christian church who teaches the Bible and does not deviate from it will be the next to be persecuted by their faith. We as Christians have had it pretty easy in America and I do believe in the coming days our faith will truly be tested.

There's a book out you might find interesting, called The American Religion . It's by Harold Bloom. The book's thesis is that a fairly large percentage of the 90+ percent of Americans who claim to be Christians are lying , though probably not knowingly. He says that the real 'American religion' is Gnosticism : The belief that each person contains a spark of divinity (NOT to be confused with an immortal soul), and that one can become divine in one's own right. He cites polls that show a large percentage of those claiming to be Christian claim to believe there is a heaven and they're going there, but that there is no hell (IIRC, it's 78% think they're going to heaven, while 44% think there's no hell to worry about in the first place) ; that Jesus was a great human teacher and nothing more; that a good person can get to heaven regardless of what religion they follow...Bloom is a big fan of Gnosticism, and some of his remarks on the LDS, mainline Christians, etc, will sound like insults to their adherents, but are meant to be compliments.

That is an understatement..but the Word of God is the word of God..It is not Our word it is His word..

More Preachers Wanted

"So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you multiply prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are covered with blood." (Isaiah 1:15)
Is America so arrogant, so utterly self-absorbed, so diseased by religious liberalism and philosophical subjectivism, that she thinks she can ignore all of history itself and demand from God blessings when she refuses to repent of her evils?

Excellent. Americans have changed Him from Righteous Judge of the Earth, to, everybody's girl. Bring back the prophets and judges! Even if somebody gets "scared".

When we go out to share the Gospel, the attitudes of people line up exactly like show a large percentage of those claiming to be Christian claim to believe there is a heaven and they're going there, but that there is no hell.

I think Romans 1:21-32 is very appropriate for America:

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. 28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32 Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

And I get the feeling from these posts that you people think that if religion isn't done the your way (whatever that may be), than it's not being done at all.

Please tell me I'm wrong and I'd prefer if you could do it without personal attacks.

Ok, you are wrong. Perverting a religion, and then still calling it by the same original name, and insisting it is that religion is not the same as "being mad because its not being practiced our way".

Example: Saying God approves of homosexuality is contrary to the Bible. to claim that Christianity accepts homosexual acts is contrary to that religion. Stating that "Christianity" is a "religion of a loving God", and thus anything is "ok", is not merely "practicing Christianity in a different way", its not Christianity at all, its a false religion that the Bible warns of.

It seems to me that there are a lot of Christians who have been moved in the same way by the Holy Spirit about America's new-found "religion."

A church or a synagogue is not a democracy.

You conform to what is written, not, make it more agreeable. If thats a problem to anybody, they should go to a mosque.
