Then America will finally become the neocons' dream -- a much larger version of Israel. Good point.
Tough choice...
A larger version of Israel? or a smaller version of the Soviet Union?
Lessee........ ummmmm. tough choice.
I'll get back to you.
To: Justin Raimondo
Ah, you see, if you post anything here suggesting that government is too large and powerful or pointing out that our liberties are being trampled, you've violated FR protocol.
You're supposed to do it like this: "It's about time we got a national ID card and clamped down on the press! Keep up the bombing and don't stop until the tanks reach Tehran/Moscow/Paris! LET'S ROLL!"

Your ravings and name calling in response, as well as your yelping about the Washington Times article in the first place, are telling. He doth protest rather loudly, doesn't he.
Must have hit a nerve.

You're supposed to do it like this: "It's about time we got a national ID card and clamped down on the press! Of course! I never thought of that, being focused mainly on the subhumans from the Middle East.
If a National Identity card makes life difficult for our cockroaches du jour it will also make it more difficult for other varieties of cockroaches and subversives to operate under the usual cover of patriotic sounding names.
So sorry.
To: Hugh Akston
Do you really consider the excellent Joe Sobran and his pro-Constitution, limited government writings useful to the Communists?
Joe Sobran has about as much in common with the Communists as, well, my cat.

Sadly, you appear to be right. If the so-called Patriot Act had been signed by Clinton, I bet most people here would be in an uproar. x42 will not be the last President who abuses his power to attack his political enemies. Think of the fun Hillary and Janet could have with warrantless searches and wiretaps.
To: Publius6961
Yes, Publius, it's a great idea to implement a national ID card. Why, Tovarich Ellison will even donate the software...and there's certainly no way the IDs could ever be forged.
Better make all guns illegal at the same time--or at least register them. Once we do that, the cockroaches will never get their hands on them.
Couldn't hurt to require government licenses for reporters, either. ;)

Your writing is useful to the communists. About the only other use for it comes if one first prints it on toilet paper. - #37 posted by Hugh
Funny, this sounds like you want to shut him up.

As you point out, the problem isn't the abuse of power, it's the power to abuse.
The thought of Hillary and Reno with the ability to do warrantless wiretaps makes my skin crawl.

No, it sounds as if I think his writing is worthy of being flushed. It also sounds as if I wish he would shut up, which is quite different than saying that I hope someone shuts him up.
To: Hugh Akston
And shine a light on them you do indeed!!!! Your Sept 26 article was a MUST READ.
But then, you have the usual suspects here, defending the non-defendable.

I think it is clear, by their touting of Sobran, that the folks at Overthrow (who are communists) find his works useful.
If I had to guess why, I am guessing it is because every so often he starts talking about parts of the country seceding from the Union.
