I've eaten ostrich and emu meat too. In fact you can't tell emu burgers from real burgers. Ostrich tastes a lot like steak. Someone used to sell both those meats at shows here in Florida. I hope to find that vendor again soon.

Late, late night snack: pickled pepperoncini peppers on Triscuits with a wedge of extra sharp New York Cheddar on top and a fresh-picked banana pepper for alternate bites. Wash that down with ... apple juice, what else?
Want interesting dreams? Right before retiring mix up a shake of 4oz skim milk, 1/4 cup of raw one-minute oatmeal, 1/4 cup raisin bran, large tablespoon of creamy peanut butter, a whole ripe banana, and six ice cubes, blended until smooth. I use it when I want to take a lucid dreaming trip. Mmmmm, de-lish. [The churning action in the stomach and intestines is what triggers the dreaming and you can maintain a near awake state with the continuous digestive assault and gas bubbling in the gut.]

I seem to remember a REALLY WEIRD song called "Onions, Onions, RAH! RAH! RAH!" Besides the strange subject matter, the song was sung in a very unusual manner.

Gator burgers, BB-Q gator, Roast gator, gator loaf, grilled gator, gator kabobs, gator jerky.... ect.
Gator is as exotic I go--I won't eat anything that I ever had as a pet so duck and rabbit is out of the question. I won't eat venison either even if I was starving.
Wackiest thing I eat now-- Dill pickles with Butter Brickle ice cream, green olives in chili (beans, NO tomatoes--), and my lazy version of Polenta-- bag of cornchips, milk, cheese and spices.
A sandwich I ate as a kid-- peanut butter, honey, ham, and Cheetos on white bread, sometimes made like grilled cheese.

which must be constructed at 2 AM or later to qualify as a true work of art. Now this the part that I truly appreciate! L8R, L4T

RE # 53:
Yeah, and seek out ethnic delis and restaurants that cater to the ethnics, and not to the slumming natives. Big difference! A couple of years ago I discovered a Middle Eastern market that carried a dozen kinds of imported hallah(!) Unfortunately, it's burned down (sometime before the recent events) and hasn't re-opened. Interestingly, some of the women that ran it were from that native tribe commonly called white trash; I guess they must have been married to some Arabs or Persians.

Vegimite has also been described as solidified Guiness.

Chou Doufu aka stinky tofu aka smelly beancurd.
Smells rancid, hence the name, but tastes alright. It's pungent.
American food -- mashed potatoes and cottage cheese mixed together is great.

Let's hear it for the PB & bacon lovers. I'll have to try the onion roll touch and the scrambled egg addition. YUMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!

"Onions, Onions, RAH! RAH! RAH!"Actually a big, thick, snappy slice of raw onion is hard to beat--especially a Vidalia from Walla Walla.

My hubby thinks I'm nuts, but he likes raw onions and Italian dressing on cottage cheese. Go figureHmmmmm........I don't think I'd like that one but I love hot whole kernel corn on real cold cottage cheese.

Whenever I was in a restaurant when I was a kid I used to always order for dessert, Pie ala Mode "with lots of mode."When I was a child I ordered a milkshake at a Chinese restaurant, when they asked me what kind I wanted, I replied "American"......

Western Bagles in L.A. has TERRIFIC jalapeno & cheese bagels. Folks line up early in the morning on weekends to get it fresh baked. Mostly the folks on line were Mexicans which is why I was curious about those "bag-les" they were talking about.

Does anyone actually like morbier cheese? (I'm serious, this is not the usual cheese quip.)

While eating hot-pot in Chongqing, which is hotter that the fires of hell, I was surprised to find out the most delicious morsel I was eating was pig bladder. Surprisingly tender and well - flavorful.

When I was a little girl, I (apparently)often roamed the house while chewing on a pickled pig's foot! My mother had a problem keeping enough of them!!
Bear in mind, however, that there is also a photo of me..which I have not managed to confiscate..eating dry cat food out of a dish (the cat was eating too, of course).
I seem to have lost taste for both as I grew older....

"The main course was lutfisk, a bland, gelatinous whitefish, served with a cream sauce." This modern Svenska flika won't cook lutefisk unless it's in a nifty little boiling bag! It's actually good this way (I think they leave out the lye).
